Guys I am trying to decide what to do with my new toy. Thought I would throw it out here and get some ideas.

How the car was new.
Butternut Yellow
Bucket Seats
Black Interior
Black Vinal Top
6 cyl Auto

Some time after painted Blue
Don't know if it was raced in blue or not.

Now it is Hugger Orange, Looks like it ran a Big Block, Auto

So what to do?

Leave basicly unchanged.

Repaint leaving everything basic as is.

Make streetable.

Keep the racing heritage for sure...there's enough restored cars out there now. Plus it will be different at all the cruises that you'll take it to... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Cool race car paint it back the way it is. Make a gasser out of it!!!!! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif You have to love old iron axle cars wayy in the air.

God I hate to admit it, but I have to agree with Howie! (that's scary)

That would be Very Cool. I love the Gasser Look; nose-in-the-air, fenderwell headers, Moon tank......... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

And BY ALL MEANS, Keep the window art! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/headbang.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/drool.gif

Have you seen the Oct. issue of Hot Rod yet? The '55 Olds is killer. I used to have a '55 Olds hardtop, but couldn't wait to trade it for a '57 Chevy. Should have kept it! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I agree and there are not enough old race cars out there. However, that frame addition for the straight axle scares me. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif Cool car.

I would restore it just as is now.
Like everyone said above... leave it vintage style! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif

The guy that owns that car took it on the Power Tour this year and drove it (with "White" knuckles) all the way.....How Cool is That!!!

I talked to the guy the owned the bar that sponsored the car and he is going to look and see if he can find some pictures. Still trying to track down the owner. Here is some interesting reading about the town of Watts Oklahoma that I ran across. speed trap (http://www.bubbaworld.com/watts.html)

Now we´re talking !
Keep the frontaxle, and try to find out what type of car it came from, so that I can get one to.

I read the history of Watts, OK http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif Restore it back to the race car, but leave off the town name - someone might come looking for it to fulfill a lien http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

for sure the strait front axle is staying....I think I will redo the mounting to the frame though.....I would like to feel safer than that looks!

Mixed feelings on the steering arm....sure looks like a cobbled up mess....but we have seen several pictures of others that look just like that...just don't know how safe that would be if I decided to run it very hard. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif

Got to love this video. nova gasser (http://members.cox.net/gadavis1/upupandaway.mpg)

my dad bought a new caprice in 1966 with a 396 in it....and it just happens to be sitting out back...I think that would be the prefect engine for this car.

Oscar's place, Now that's cool. Kinda reminds me of Bob's country bunker. Any old bar bills in there with Howie's name on em? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Try to be careful with that rust around the rear side window area. They get pretty thin there, and unless there's one out new, no one was repoping a panel for that area.
Somehow I just don't see you making it a tame restoed driver.
Since you're in our area, I'd invite you to join the Eastern Ia. chapter of NNN. Our area goes way down there. Ray Morrison is one of us, as is Mrs Gibb,(honorary).Nova people help other nova people. :bigthumbup

You know where we're at. Just hollar. I still think those cars with a 69 Z 302 and adequate tire are the best pound for pound street brawler ever. They don't weigh squat. Just not any clearence for big meats without gettin a little crazy. If I can find it, I'll send a picture of the lil stinker chevy ll that won the world series at Cordova a couple of times to Bruce to post. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

I have a blown 350 that I ran in a pulling rig that I could put in the car. I would rather run the big block if I could sell the blown setup.
