I found this nice 69 SS 396 vert with a/c on ebay.I'm not thinking of buying it,I just thought the stamping was odd. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevrolet...1QQcmdZViewItem (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevrolet-Camaro-1969-Camaro-SS396-Convertible-4-Speed-Factory-A-C_W0QQitemZ330019785349QQihZ014QQcategoryZ6161QQrd Z1QQcmdZViewItem) http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a180/mr396/vp.jpg

I know why someone would want to change a L35 to a L34.Why would the N in the sn be messed up? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

-----All the small numbers are messed up because they were added by someone other than the factory. The numbers wernt gang stamped just for starters. Look at the first 6. There could have been an indentation where the N was before the N was stamped........Bill S

Remember this block was kicked around for 9 months and had a broken ear,Its sure to have scars on the decks.Since it has the 499 distributor it's most likly a 350HP

Something's amiss here! This engine has a '499 with a
4-speed? '499's were used with L/34 automatics and of
course L/78's. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

That black-on-black-on-black looks sweet with the N/66
wheels & louvered hood - huh?

Its a hot looking camaro for sure, BB a/c vert. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif He says it had the matching vin down by the oil filter so it may have the origanal L35 325 hp.
