Sorry, I am a newbie on here. We are taking offers over $26500.00 or interesting trades. Found an original 1971 GTO convertible we want to restore. Originally a Fathom Green car, the guy that re-painted it before we got it wanted Daytona Yellow.

While it might not be the world's most accurate Yenko clone, it looks ok. I really don't see a need to bash the ad. Heck, for 26,500 its probabaly not a bad deal for an SS car...looks like a clean 69 chevelle, and would be real nice if it was repainted in Fathom Green and returned to SS396 status. Good luck!

Why is it people have to cut other people's cars? Yenko's did look just like a Chevelle with stripes when they were new, duh!!! Maybe because that is what they are. That is like saying your GTO looks just like a Tempest...with emblems!
jasper
09-14-2006, 08:24 AM
Yeah, it is a real SS 396 auto on the column-bench seat car, just like the original that showed up at the Mecum Auction. It was a Fathom Green car. If this was repainted to the original Fathom Green, it would be a dead on copy. we just didn't want to repaint a car that had just been painted. The SS emblem above the Yenko emblem on the front fenders, we left on for the same reason, did not want to fill in holes and repaint. All other emblems are stick-on.

And oh, by the way, Daytona Yellow was one of the colors ordered by Yenko for some of their cars.

[/ QUOTE ] I WAS JUST SAYING THAT IF YOUR GOING TO BUILD IT DO IT RIGHT. THEY NEVER HAD A BENCH SEAT,NO SS EMBLEMS ON DOORS,NO SS EMBLEM IN THE GRILLE AND ONLY A FEW WERE BUILT IN THAT COLOR. I ALSO THINK IF IT WERE GREEN IT WOULD LOOK THE PART MORE. IM NOT BASHING IT ITS JUST NOT A CLOSE TO A YENKO AS YOU THINK IT IS. AT 35K IT WAS TOO MUCH,AT 26K I GUESS ITS NOT BAD IF THATS WHAT YOU WANT. JMHO....I THINK IM ALLOWED TO VOICE MY OPINION. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Wrong. Many Yenko Chevelles had bench seats. I'd bet more had bench than buckets actually.

You said new bumpers..Are they rechromed GM or the new repos---If they're the new repos how's the fit and finish.............

Thanks Camaro Joe
It's amazing how many people proclaim "they never made....." and don't know what they are talking about.
We did a restoration on the SS396 and then ADDED Yenko emblems, and the owner WANTED the 427 emblem on the front. The car was meant to be the best of both worlds, SS 396 and a Yenko Chevelle!!! we were not going to take off all the SS emblems on the car in case whoever we sold it to wanted to turn it back to the SS configuration.
Sure would like to see your car GTO Don so everybody on the forumn could pick it apart. Are ypu up to posting it?
New reproduction bumpers fit and finish is real nice as you can see in the photos.
Car is in Gatlinburg for the show this weekend.
The rarestYenko Chevelle of all happens to be a Fathom Green, bench seat, auto on the column, an was at the Mecum auction in Chicago. It bid to @ $160000.00 and the owner didnt sell!

Jeezz...I bet all that came stock on it too!! And Hurst wheels came stock on a 1969 or 1970 Judge too? Or did you change some stuff like I did on our Yenko? Imagine that.
Oh, by the way...is that second one Daytona Yellow? I thought they never made any that color?
And I didn't say show me other peoples cars, I said show me yours!!!
You were the first one cutting other peoples cars.
All of us in this forumn run in to yahoos like you all the time that are such authorities on everybody else's cars.
Spare us your stupid comments.
Have a nice day.

All you have to do is go here:
http://www.copo.com/L72-History.htm
Then look and you will see the OPTION codes that you had to order to get bucket seats in a Yenko Chevelle. It was just like a regular Malibu or SS car, standard seats were benches, you had to order the bucket seats as an OPTION. I hope anyone else who syas that you couldn't get bench seats in a Yenko gets the facts straight before saying anything else stupid.

Maybe Chris Short or Mike Guarise could send you some pics... both had Yenko Chevelles at SCR9 with bench seat interior. Better yet, come to SCR10 and see them first hand. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/scholar.gif

Yes, there were/are Yenko Chevelles with bench seats. But, please refrain from calling "your" clone a Yenko, when it's a SS396 Chevelle.
It is what it is and appears to be a nice car for the money, but I wish it was green. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
What would be nice is if people would come here and sign up to be involved rather than just to try to sell their stuff.

Yesh, I wish they had left it green too before I got my hands on it.
I would love to be more invilved, however I run four websites for all kinds of cars for sale and do not have time to be invilved in every website devoted to each kind of car. Believe me I would LOVE to!
I sell cars on:
www.corvettefor sale.com
www.bigblockchevys.com (http://www.bigblockchevys.com)
www.internetmusclecars.com (http://www.internetmusclecars.com)
www.milliondollarautosite.com (http://www.milliondollarautosite.com)
Checkout the rest of my cars for sale to see the quality I sell. I didn't put them all for sale on this forumn, just the Yenko clone because I thought someone might like to have a real nice SS 396 Chevelle/Yenko clone at a real low price! Compare what I am asking to some of the other Yenko clone Chevelles in the $30-50 thousand dollar price range they want, and you will see what a bargain it is compared to those.
Thanks for looking.

I agree Supergas. Jasper...neat car...hardly a re-creation but neat none the less for the money. Don't expect to come here...slap a for sale ad with a lofty "best in the country re-creation" spiel and not have people try and help you understand why it isn't. I don't see anything proving it as a real SS396 either..

This will be my last post. and I am sure some of you will love that. I have never been on such a negative forumn. Everybody is ready to pick everyone else apart. I have never, on my websites, or on ANY forumn, tried to deride any other person's car of disrespect anyone in any way.
That does not seem to be the case here.
There are only about 30 Yenko Chevelles that have been found. Do all you guys cutting my clone own one of the originals? If not could you afford one if you found one/ I bet not is the answer for most of you.
am 56 years old and have been around muscle cars since the 60's. I have owned "real" LS6's, L88's, Ram Air GTO's, and many others, back when they were new. If you want to find out about me and the cars i own, check out the November issue of CORVETTE FEVER MAGAZINE where there is a 5 page article about me and my 1971 LS5 454 Corvette and other cars I have owned.
Most of us could afford them back then, but not now. That's why I built the clone. If you don't like it, great, that's your opinion. But as the old saying goes, "If you can't say something good, then don't say nothing at all." After this experience on this forumn, that is why I will say nothing else.

It's not negative. All you came here for was to sell a car you described as "possibly the best Yenko Chevelle re-creation" and it doesn't even have a Holley carb. It's not even close. Then you want to educate everyone here about Yenko Chevelles. Like I said , neat car for a decent price...whatever it started life as you can tell a lot of work went into it.

My Yenko Chevelle came originaly with a bench seat, and if I recall correctly is was the funky cloth one...but it's kind of an oddball anyway, as it also originally had a dark green vinyl top... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

The Holley was used on all L72 applications, therefore all Yenko 427 Chevelles would have had a Holley.
