Not much worth posting from this periodical lately. However, this one caught my attention. They are using the purported sales from this Doylestown outfit as a barometer of Pontiac rising prices. Any thots? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Pontiac Muscle Prices Out of Control
You’ve read all about Mopar muscle being the hottest thing on the planet. Well, it appears that Hemi and 440 Six Pack cars, while still overpriced, are coming back to earth. We know of a Hemi Superbird that recently sold for $120,000. That is substantially less than a year ago.
Meanwhile, Anthony Calderaio of Custom Classic GTOs, Inc., in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, told us of some recent sales of GTOs. Check these out: 1970 Ram Air IV black Judge convertible at $535,000; 1969 Judge convertible, $350,000; 1970 Judge convertible with a Ram Air III for $425,000; and a plain Jane ’70 convertible, but with a 455, four-speed and factory air for $180,000. In some cases, these prices are 100 times their original list price! We also know of a confirmed sale of $1.3 million for one of the very rare 1969 Trans Am convertibles.
“GTO prices were suppressed, but now people are starting to realize that they are worth as much as Mopars and maybe even more, because they are full-framed cars—which were better made, of better quality and with creature comforts,” Calderaio said.

I see that this was already listed earlier today by pacecarjeff. My point is that I have heard of seemingly unbelievable prices of GTOs being sold from this outfit but have never heard that they were verified. Does anyone know if these prices are legit?

I was at Daytona last November, a guy was there with a 70 Judge Convertible RAIII for sale.
He wanted $125K.
I thought that was absolutely crazy.
I guess I should have bought it. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I just really don't see how this can continue???
Reminds me of the late 80's when the Ferarri's were all selling for Millions.
Just a matter of time before the crash.
Hope I am wrong, but i don't think so.
They are just cars?

Could be, but I think we'd need to know a lot more details to determine if the Hemi sky is really falling.

That's pretty funny stuff. I love the fact that they don't describe the condition of the Superbird! Try buying a nicely restored or original Hemi-Superbird for the money quoted. Who wrote this? A Pontiac collector. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hmmm.gif

Patrick,
Better read that a little more closely.....the Hemmings writer stated that they (Hemmings) know of the $120K Hemi Superbird, not the Pontiac guy.

Yes that was Milts Trans am convert. It then sold again.

Not that Pontiac prices aren't going up. Maybe they are. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif But come on! A Hemi-Superbird for 120K. I think they should give some more details on that sale. That's probably the market for a mint 440-4 car on its best day. But certainly not a Hemi.
As far as re-reading the article. It may be a "Hemmings" guy who is also a Pontiac collector. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

That's exactly the point I was making. To publish that statement, with no further explanation/details, is borderline irresponsible. Perhaps the car was a basket case, perhaps it had no drivetrain - who knows? But to inject that into the same brief story touting $400K - $1M Pontiacs is sleazy journalism.

I have spoken to this Pontiac "expert" and he knows very little about GTO's much less true values of them.. Trust very little of what he says.. Don is 100% correct..

I don't know about the cars themselves, but the parts sure aren't getting any cheaper. (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=290030290952&ih =019&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT)

just take a look at a hemmings price guide (any one of them) it never seams like the homework is done so no suprize here. pontiacs are very strong on the market, but so are the hemi birds, and i agree with Jeff on the 440 4brl price, and thats the entry level bird.
