I've seen worse cars (Red LS6 on Ebay) http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif, sell for more ($20K+)

Ain't that the truth! That red LS6 was waaayyyyy worse than this 442 appears to be.

'--' paint code on the 442 Trim Tag, but '53 53' on the build card http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif What's that about?

This is my understanding from deductive reasoning (rather than any hard facts.)

It seems there were 4 extra cost 442 colors. One is Agean Aqua, then there's Sebring Yellow, Rallye Red, and some gold. These cars often got the "--" like special-ordered colors, although they were RPO for the 442. I've seen this a bunch of times, but it doesn't make sense from other GM brands out there.

Sounds like a reasonable explanation to me http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif
