Unreal! And that's just the tag. Plus it's not an L78. Something seems strange here.

Correcct me if I am wrong but that tag only has Z27 on it so it is for a SS350 not SS396.

Now that I come to think about it, I am not so sure there was a designation for a SB or BB Super Sport other then L78. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
I have seen Z27 on 1971 Camaros but I don't remember if the 1970 SS had a trim tag designation. I didn't think it did. Anyone?
Also he states 396/325hp when in 1970 it was 396/350hp. The LS3 in 1971 was rated at 300hp.
Things don't add up.

You are correct. The Z27 DID NOT appear on the 1970 SS cars that were built in Norwood. Only the L34 & L78 BB codes were on the trim tags. As I'm sure you know, the Van Nuys cars had nothing at all to indicate what the car was. I have had several 71's, and they did have the Z27 SS code, for both SB & BB cars. The SS-396's aslo had the LS-3 code. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif

Thanks Greg,
For a minute there I thought something new had appeared that nobody knew about.
The bad part of this is that someone paid huge money for a modified trim tag. Ouch! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif
Buyer beware, warned and educated.

I for one, never put much faith in those "Private" auctions. You never really know who was bidding, or if they really bought the item to begin with. I have followed a few of those private auctions, and have found the sellers to be a bit shady. This Trim Tag looks to be a repop due to the chrisp letters on the upper portion of it. It looks as if the seller took some sandpaper to the center area to make it appear to be genuine, and aged a bit. I have seen REAL Z28 trim tags sell for much less than this tag. I have serious doubts that anyone really spent over $1k for one, when they can get a fresh repop for just over $300. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
