I really dont know what these cars bring but a guy in town has a 67 L-79 4 speed Convertible Chevelle, All # match, suppose to have papers, good colors, nice resto etc.. Whats a car like this worth I dont really want it but kinda think its priced right from other hardtop prices Ive seen. So it might be one of those deals a car cant pass on. Thanks in advance. Andy
P.S. Scott didnt you have a few L79s??

As high as $65K if done right. That's TOP DOLLAR for a Fully restored and CORRECT car. Likley it isn't that kind of car, so I would say $40K http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/scholar.gif

The guy wants 40k maybe I was wrong then.. That just seemed reasonable for a car like that.. Does anyone know how many were made?

According to Team Chevelle...there 4,048 L79 Chevelles made in 1967...
No breakdown for different models...that I could find! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Turns out car has no papers, owner history back to new with original owner still alive, but no a car Id stand up for.

I've only heard of '65s. Especially with the advent of the 396, I bet they're REALLY rare, and the rate of attrition is probably greater than 396 cars because they're obscure. I'd love to see one of these as a rag or a post. Have seen one or two Malibu hardtops.
As they only came with sticks, is there a way to tell from the tranny? Or did 275hp cars receive the same tranny?

They were all 4spds and the reason they are so rare is unless u have docs or the #s matching drivetrain there just a v8 malibu body according to the vin. There are no codes on the cowl tags or in the vin # and the 275 hp cars had almost all the same stuff so unless u really know these cars once they lost the orig eng and docs u can,t tell them apart....aside from a few little pieces.. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif
