Are '67 327 rods the same? I have a bunch with pistons. Let me know if you're interested.
Zedder
10-15-2006, 06:53 PM
Yes Tony, if they are the stock '67 327 small journal 2 inch rods with 11/32 bolts then they are the same. I don't need the pistons obviously, but could use a nice set of rods if you want to part with them. Please let me know if you do and how much you want for them. Thanks http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Thanks Tony http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif Don't need the rods anymore guys, Tony helped me out.
Ron, I'm the one who told him that the application he had was from a military application. I found the number on the Moretec site. I don't have the auction bookmarked, but do a search under 283 crank and it comes up.

If I was sure about the fit for the timing gear etc. I'd buy it, but I don't want to ship it up here and find out that something won't work on my 302.
What motor is in your car now, Ron?
69RSZ
10-16-2006, 12:02 AM
well the one that was in the car (a 512 cast #) was a 302,it has a large journal steel crank,11:1 alum pistons, press in pins built just like a 68 302 with the correct cam (solid lifters) all gm stuff http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif just didnt have a 302 casting number on block,go figure that one huh.I even have the recipt from a chevy dealer for the CE engine when it was bought in 71.I also have the correct MO 67 block that I would rather put in,It has all the numbers and is date coded for my car but is a bare block and im trying to find parts for it.It is at the machine shop now getting cleaned up.Oh I might have someone for you to call about those exhaust manifolds with the correct part numbers,he is returning my call in a few min and I should know something soon.

Both are correct, but I think mine is more correct per MacNeish (i.e. he wrote the book, sold me the water pump, and judged the car):

Mark, did you get the crank off of shadetree? Oh lets see a pic of the lucky project car http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif
Zedder
10-17-2006, 05:39 PM
No Ron, my engine builder had one with rods, so that made it a lot easier for me. Shadetree wants $100, but they are on vacation and can't get the numbers from it for another week.
Here is a pic when I first found it...

Nice! car with deluxe int and gauges!! Is it a real black car? If so our cars would look neat sitting next to each other with the opposite paint scheme.Any idea how many black cars are on the reg? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif
Zedder
10-17-2006, 10:58 PM
Thanks Ron. Yes, it's a real black car, deluxe interior, tach/gauges, fold-down seat, exterior chrome, rear speaker, rear defogger, 4.56 posi, tinted glass, was told it had an am/fm radio originally but haven't confirmed that yet. I'd love to own a white and black RS in the future...I think one of each would be very cool! No, I don't know how many black cars are in the registry, but I know it is a fairly rare color.

Mark, did the 67 302 engines have the engine pull brackets from the factory? If so how were they mounted.
Zedder
10-18-2006, 12:16 AM
Ron, none that I have owned had them and I believe that this topic was discussed on one of the web sites last year and the concensus was that they were not delived with engine lift hooks.

Best place to get it is Paragon Reproductions who'll sell you a reconditioned assembly as seen in the photo for $125, complete with element and silk-screened text on the canister.

I did not know that and to be honest if someone had the items I needed to restore or rebuild a car especially one as rare as a 1967 Z/28, I would put my differences aside. These parts are just too few these days.
Again, good luck. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif
