This car I bought a few years ago from a neighbor of mine who had owned the car since 1978.The car is matching# except for the rear end which he told me was making a noise in the early '80s and he just changed out the whole center section. It is a 300hp,4sp with a/c ,original teak wheel and side pipes added. The car was originally Laguna blue and was painted the correct 1966 red in 1978.The paint is still in very nice condition for being 28yrs old as the owner was a very meticulous guy.The interior is original except the drivers side seat cover and is in great condition. The spare tire tub, jack and everything else that you would look for is on the car.The engine compartment for the most part is very original. The motor was rebuilt some years ago so it does not have that many miles on it.I have to dig out the receipts to be sure when. The car runs like a top and I drive it quite often but the a/c does run out of charge by the end of summer and I usually go through my cars tune up and brakes when I get them but this car did not seem to need much so I just drove it.I checked out the frame when I bought it and is nice shape. He under coated the whole thing back in the day with some pretty tough stuff to prevent rust.I would scrape all of that off and paint the frame while on the body if not doing a body off. These cars a very easy to seperate from the bodies and I have been known to take the body of just to detail a chassis. It all has to do with what you want in the car.If you want a restored show car and cannot do the work yourself I would suggest that you buy a finshed car.If you want a car to do a complete restoration on you should buy a project car that is in need of everything, since you are going to do everything to it.But make sure what you start with is a good car as it makes the restoration so much easier. The problem is in todays market project cars are actually out selling the drivers. With matching number cars with any options bringing$30K+.If you want a nice car that you can enjoy and tinker with yourself a good midyear is the way to go.They are very easy to work on,drive nicely are comfortable, look great and appreciate in value.$42K

It was a pleasure meeting you and looking at your cars. The a/c coupe is as you stated is a very nice car in fact if anything it was better than you described.Which almost never happens these days. But after seeing all of those big blocks surrounding it I now know that I must stay with my heart and go after a big block coupe for my collection.
If anyone would like an opinion on the '66 coupe feel free to drop me a line.Good Luck on the sale of a very nice car

Nice to meet you too.Good luck in the search of a '66 427 car.I guess that it was not a good idea to show a nice small block car right next to my big blocks http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif even if it has a/c and side pipes http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
