I ran across a guy selling a Vega locally,he said it had been garaged kept since new but it is setup up for a smallblock chevy engine. He is not the original owner but sounds like he knows the cars history to some extent or has been described to him as garaged kept.I asked for a picture and he sent me a picture of a light blue vega with a black yenko stripe on the side of the car and it says stinger, the picture also shows louvers or vents in the trunk deck.I have e mailed the seller to give me more detaiils about the car but have not received a reply as of this time. Were all stingers a blue color.I do not know how to post a picture but will e mail someone the oicture so it can be posted.Any information on yenko stingers would be appreciated. Are they a list of vin# s for them .

Yenko Stinger Vega's were not all blue, nor were they V8's. That's not to say someone couldn't have swapped in a V8 later, but originally they were 4 cylinders.

Looks like a homemade version of the Yenko Stinger graphics. The Yenko lettering is indeed way too large. I believe all Yenko Stingers started out as Vega GT's, with the fastback/hatchback roofline, or as the 2 door Wagon. That looks like a standard non-GT Vega with modifications, including 5 lug conversion to accept rally wheels... Vegas all had 4 lug wheels originally. It's probably still a fun little car with a V8. I can't even remember the last time I saw a Vega (of any sort!) on the street around here. I'd definitely do a double-take if I saw that sitting in front of someone's house.

Thanks for the information Joe.I just ran across an add about a vega set up for a small block chevy so I asked for a picture of the car and this is what I received. It never hurts to ask! I figured that it was probably some type of tribute car or something but it looks like a pretty nice little car and the paint is suppose to be original.I am going to go ahead and look at it and if it is really nice I may just buy it to build a nice little smallblock for it and run the fire out of it!LOL Thanks a lot for the information I knew you guys would be able to shed some light on it.

The color does indeed look like the correct blue... If that's original paint its gotta be one of the best preserved Vega's I've ever seen. The Yenko cars were said to have started to rust while still on the lot in 1971/72!

The guy said it was an original paint car and has been garage kept since new.It does look really clean.Hopefully the weather will let up here and I can look at it tomorrow. If it is as clean as it looks it may have a new home.I am trying to come up with a story to tell the wife whay It had to come home with me! LOL I will try to hide it but I know she wil find it in a day or two. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Go to the last few pics on this page to see a blue stinger. I think the stinger was only offered in the hatchback and the kamback, but I'm not sure.

I like it too...very cool!!! .
The louvre vents in the deck would indicate a '71...like some other GM products had that year. .
Although not as popular, I always thought the notchbacks were cooler than the fastbacks...kind've a base car thing. .
Thinking about it now, were all the well known Drag cars a fastback or any notchbacks of fame?? .
Back in the day they were everywhere here in Canada...Astres too! . They didn't do well here in the rust belt and I haven't seen one in a long time either? .
