Kim,
The company is STANT (http://www.stant.com/) and it's a "Safety Release" cap. You should be able to get one at just about any auto parts store. I got one at Walmart a few years ago.

Yes, that one is just about current production.
If you can't find one. Let me know...
When I hit the yards I pull the little rubber seal off of those, and throw them back - I'll grab you one.
NAPA has them.

Kim, You are just a good American. I think that is what my kid was fighting for in Iraq for 13 months. Give America BACK to the Americans! Keep our great country free, strong and without incident. Walmart is a 100% American Company.
They are still based in Arkansas today.
That can't be your issue?
Must be the living wage thing, or the monopolizing the market thing.
Not the Buy American thing. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Jeff my problem with walmart is there buying practices and employment practices. Now back to the cap. I thank you very much in taking the time to pick-up those rad caps. I guess I didn't explain that I am looking for that exact cap for my 70 race car. The car had 30.9 miles on it before it was built into a race car. I am trying to restore it with the correct items. Thanks again for your help. Kim

I will keep my eyes open for an old blue one.
That is not going to be an easy thing to find.
An aftermarket stant cap from the 70's.
Do you want the ones I got in the meantime?
PM your address.
Oh those Walmart things... Yes - you are right.
They do squeeze their vendors and employees.
Those are good reasons for not shopping there.

I am appalled. My gosh, Sam Waltom epitomizes the absolute vitrues of free trade, and the American way of doing business without government restriction, or, God forbid, restrictions/regulation. Good grief, next thing you'll want is a higher minimum wage for the people working there. They choose those jobs. They don't have to work there.
And just because you can't find anything made in the USA in the store doesn't mean anything. This is a global economy. We don't need to produce anything. This is a consumer based economy, so get out there and buy something. Geez somebodies gonna think you're a liberal, or something. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
And to think, all this over a rad cap. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif

Every new business that opens hurts other businesses like it. Everyone likes to bash WalMart because they are the biggest. What about Macy's, Sears, Home Depot, Lowe's, Kroger, Eckerds and all other large chain stores? You don't think they put smaller mom and pop stores out of business? Sure they did. Just like the mom and pop stores did before them but on a smaller scale. I don't like all the cheaply made import junk any more than anyone else does but I do like saving money when I can. Go to any other store and they have the same import junk but WalMart has it at a cheaper price. The arguement people have about WalMart being non union doesn't make sense either. If they were union, they would have to raise prices to compensate for the extra wages and benifits. They raise prices and they will lose customers. They lose customers that will have to layoff employees and/or close stores. How would that benitit anyone? I agree that WalMart has gone down hill since Sam Walton died. He was all about buying American as much as possible. His kids are all about making as much money as they can. But, isn't that what this country is all about. No one ever has enough. It's all about more, more, more........ Just my opinion.

I have never owned WalMart stock. It just bothers me that all these people that bash WalMart will shop at all these other chain stores and think nothing about it. ALL these major chain stores do the same things that WalMart does. People will go to Macy's or other high dollar mall store and buy a shirt made in Indonesia and not think twice about it but will slam WalMart for selling import junk. Let anyone here look in your or your wife's closet and see how many items you can find that are made in the US. I'll bet you won't find many. But it's OK because they wern't bought from WalMart.

What is going to happen when all of the manufacturing in the US goes to other countries? We are going to continue to buy overseas? Our wealth is being transferred to other nations at an alarming rate. Everyone talks about independence from oil because we are at the mercy of other countries. What is going to happen when we are at the mercy of other countries for everything that is manufactured? We are going to have to start paying higher prices for everything. As the economies other countries develop it becomes as expensive to manufacture in those countries as it does in the US.
Who has really been helped by $40 bicycles? The poor? No... they just don't realize that the manufacturing business that they worked at no longer is in business because Wal Mart demanded lower prices year over year and in order to survive they had to move manufacturing to China.
Walmart moves about 100,000 containers every couple of months into the US from China... that is alot of overseas manufacturing folks!
I personally applaud Snapper Lawnmowers... read about it here...Snapper...the Company who said NO to Walmart (http://www.fastcompany.com/magazine/102/open_snapper.html)
