Hey King,,,Noticed in the original auction that the block was gone. Im betting you found the perfectly dated replacement!!! Im also betting this car is stunning upon completion. Endura and Rally Sport,,,what a combo!!! Goes to show you what can happen to a car in a low number of miles.........Bill S

it is surprising how fast the restoration costs add up, even on a solid project car...
maybe some of us will look back and wish we had snapped up this well optioned L-89 car when we had the chance. jmo

I saw one that was documented and with the original motor & rear end that was fully restored. The owner was asking 160K.
That was about 5 or 6 months ago though.

Documentation of these cars is the key, must be bullett proof and beyond IMO. To put these up there with 69 Yenko's is hard to believe, but what do I know. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif

The rear is not exclusive to an L89. Do you have pics of the car engine pad stamp or docs?

I don't have them but from what I could see it looked to be the real thing. As far as the rear end, the dates and codes all fit together for what the car is supposed to be was what I was implying.
In the past few months I have also found two other L89's up for sale. One was going for $225K and the other is going to going for $275K. All have the documents and original motors. All have under 22K miles or less.
Chuck's got a good car and when he is done it will be worth some pretty coin especially with the RS option. I was thinking about making a play for this myself but when the Ebay auction crossed what I thought the value the car was worth it was over for me as well as some lack of information coming from the seller. Some may feel that the car will not support the price, but when it's finished it may seem like a deal. After all it still won't be ready for a little bit of time.
I have followed L89's for a number of years and they have really taken off over the past 24-30 months. They only did make a total of 311. That is not disputed and next to the ZL1, it is the second rarest Camaro motor offered from the factory that year. From what I have found there really aren't that many left that are the real deal. That number is somewhere around 20 and I base this solely on my research from the cars I have come across as well as discussing this with some very well informed sources. Could I be wrong? Sure this is my hobby not my profession but after you have researched it as I have, that's the results I come to. These are very special cars and from what most of us have seen in that time period those special type cars have had a healthy appreciation factor.

Chuck, I figured you had at least 1(most likely more) L89 engine so you would be a great match for that car. So what the odds you have the original motor for that car? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Depending on how many he has it would be that number out of 311.
