I'm wondering if anyone can help date the following dealer display pieces.I purchased the items from a old dealer that was closed during past year.I feel both pieces are from the late 60's early 70's but would like to narrow it down a bit more.

The first case was wall mounted and is backlit with several glass shelves. The center section opens for advertising slogans, prices, or whatever you wanted to put in there.Units are made of fiberglass, aluminum, and glass with locking doors ...I also have a unit that is two sided and free standing.Same overall design.....but not wall mounted like the others.

The next piece is a display rack for the dealer brochures and other dealer lit. It is labled Chevrolet Information Center. This one is made of wood and aluminum..It does have a DOT transportation lable/sticker on the bottom edge but it is not dated.

I have checked all my dealer info and can't find any good pic's of these units...Anyone remember them? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif Thanks...

That Aqua cabinet was first available beginning in late 1966,all the way through the 1970's.
They were available in three designs within those years..
Wall mount Horizontal.
Wall mount Vertical.
Floor foot mount vertical.I've got one of these.
I have a dealer merchandising catalog showing the sizes and differences from that time period. The order form is dated 1968.

That brochure rack looks to be 1972.I'm not positive on that but just looks like one I have in a 1972 merchandising catalog. Is it solid wood or particle board with a dark wood veneer?
Good stuff! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

Thanks! I kind of felt they started in 67...I never knew about the horizontal mounted case, I have 7 verticals though.. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

The rack is made of a type of partical board /masonite...Good to know it could be 72.....I remember standing in front of one in 74 stealing lit.. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I did manage to get a few more cases but all are of the Goodwrench era..Old dealerships are getting harder to find!

Thanks,

Steve

Steve,I'd guess 1960-64 on that clock. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Doesn't Phil Borris have the mate for your Chevrolet Plastic lens mounted in his garage wall?

I noticed a Sunoco banner under your clock,so thought I'd throw this in.
I put this in the trunk of my Chevelle at carshows.
I need to find a way to drag my Wayne 511 blender along.

Steve..forgive me for hijacking.
I remember seeing these on the gas station center islands when my Dad was making ends meet back in the late 60's.
Dated 1967 and a perfect companion piece for my Sunoco blender pump.I dig the Whitewalls.

I remember when the new trico displays arrived, they were yellow and more square around 73-74. Backed one into the alignment pit. It survived the drop pretty well if I remember correctly after picking up all the blades. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

Nice stool......I like the floor mount display case, however I think it is a little too large for a indoor display......better suited for the garage..

I dig your ECO #98.
I just picked up an original #97 w/hose from a defunct Mobil station.
It's unmolested and still has it's original date tag showing 1969.
It's been indoors it's whole life, and works well.

I've been looking for this original plate for nearly 15 years.
It fits my car perfectly as it's dated for the same build month & state as my car,October 1969,thus the plate expired in Oct.1970.Ecstasy.. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

This guy had a ton of stuff including a garage stall worth of GM tools. He had it all layed out on tables and the floor and it included an A/C recharge station with vacuum pump, transmission jacks, transmission housing clamps, rear pinion puller and bar, front end alignment tables, pullers, drivers, dozens of specialized hand tools, etc, etc, etc. I went through everything and set aside some tools that I wanted and then asked him for a price. He then stated that he really wanted to sell all or nothing. Rolling my eyes and going into panic I asked how much he wanted for everything. When he told me $100!!!! to say that Chad and I loaded up my truck in a BIG hurry would be a gross understatement. I wish I had taken a picture of the tools he had layed out. I believe we loaded something like 4-5 large boxes and likely 500-600 pounds of equipment into my box. Nice when that happens once in awhile.
