The green one looks like the one that was offered on e-bay a couple of years ago that was in a large garage with (if I recall) a COPO Camaro???? If it is, they cleaned it up a lot. I am not for sure as all my records are at home.

The black car is like one that we hauled to Barrett Jackson Florida and sold in 2004, but it's not the same black LS6 convertible. Strange because it sold to a fellow in Florida.

The Forest Green was the same one on Ebay being sold by snakebite500 a few winters ago.
I think the black one is Billys car.

The guy appraising the car must have been so excited after testing the tach! that is whay he couldn't spell that good! Just too excited.I thought I was a bad speller. I guess If i got a chance to test a tach out in a LS6 car I would be excited too!LOL It for sure is a beautiful car!

I am not 100% sure, but believe the blue one (dirty one) is the one that was offered a few years ago and was in a basement when photographed. He also offered a blue Deuce and COPO car around the same time. If it is this car it is the real deal, but like I said earlier I am not sure it is the same car.

Rick, youll have to stay tuned when we do this for for member 1427 now !! Why does a ls6 guru have a 427 monniker?

My answer,
Cuz I own and collect SS427 Impalas and "SS454" was already taken.

Of course and unfortunately, both of those reasons have since changed. Larry (SS427) passed away and I no longer collect the SS427 Impalas though I still own them but am now into the LS-6's.

I believe this is the same car Chris White looked at a few years ago. The car was the real deal and was numbers matching but not a stitch of paperwork.

If it is a REAL LS6 convert, I would have had to slap the Appraiser for that $280K appraisal.

http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif

Appraiser; Correctly restored motor comp (Headers)
Never lowered the top
Looks like he ONLY read the NADA book !!(you could throw that it in the garbage)
When I see guys at auctions with those I just http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif

Fake buildsheet $280K on its Best day !
Someone is going to loose some money...

Appraisal says worths it "wait" in gold with the "bill" sheet. Then says it has the "wright" components on this 1970 Chevalier?????. I hate when people knock others cars but how can you take an appraisal seriously when 5 words are spelled completely wrong and used out of context and 5 words are capitalized that shouldnt be??Doesnt seem real professional. Nevertheless if 5 cars sold over that price[500K up to 1.3M in the past 2 years] why not embellish the price too ?? 280K for a real ls6 ragtop is philanthropy.

I grabbed a BS from "Chevelle Stuff (http://www.chevellestuff.com/index.htm) " for comparison...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v697/mockingbird812/bs_bal_1120_13637_75b.jpg

Lot's of issues: http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

* font is slightly off (too thin)
* paper looks thick
* alignment of options not consistent with real Baltimore BSs (multiple (real) Balt. BSs are all consistent with how they align below block 93)
* block alignment entries start meandering to the right as you move from left to right across the sheet. Again not the case with real BSs.

This would fool a bunch of folks. Good job getting the evidence Howard.

I like the fact that these build sheets are always missing parts of them which have no bearing on the value of the vehicle.

Wonder how that happens???

Mr70
12-03-2006, 08:01 PM
Well that's not Billys Chevelle...
That buildsheet is Homemade, and is not even typical to this vehicles options.
He picked the wrong Plant & donor car to assimilate for this Chevelle.
He made some fatal solid lifter specific parts character errors, but the most obvious to me is he forgot to list either the C-O5 or C-O6 Convertible top RPO code in box #107.
In box #11 he has the HARDTOP open frame code showing.
Box #79 is particularly pertinent to a convertible built at the Baltimore plant, and this one's not even close.

Red Flags everywhere guys.. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif

Rick - sometimes you (I) just miss the most obvious items (C05).

Howard - would you pls reply to the owner and thank him for sending the "authentic" documentation and ask him if he could also forward the rare Build Sheet "addendum form" which documents the convertible top? Pls post response here! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

All good points, mr70. Lots of red flags but unfortunately for most average buyers these things would not be noticed and that is very troubling especially with big dollars involved. Someone is going to lose to these crooks.

P.S. As was noted on the Chevelle website the SS 454 emblems on the front fenders look a bit out of position as well. Who knows what this car really is.

I think we need to be careful listing many of the incorrect items we find on these build sheets on an open forum as the scammers just continue to improve their fakes based on what we tell them is wrong. Suffice to say it has fake written all over it. This sheet is missing the one key item that I see on all Baltimore sheets and one that I see on most. Shhhhhh.

I cannot believe some of the junk I am asked to authenticate as well as some of the REALLY good ones that are coming along lately. They are getting scary they are so good. Just an opinion guys.

sorry, but I would not consider buying anything from anyone on Ebay that has zero transactions. I am sure they are selling it for a boyfriend who is internet challenged or an uncle whose electricity has been shut off and needs the money in hurry but this ride stinks of bad fish. I emailed for a spell checked copy of the Appprazale. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

But what do I know? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

I emailed the guy too , and he sent me the pic of the build sheet and like you guys said, there was so many things wrong with it, it wasn't funny But overall it looked very believable to someone unsuspecting. I think as well that you have to be very careful in how much you disclose on this site , because they are getting better at this. Anyone remember the LS6 Conv from the New York area this past summer ? Overall it was a better "Fake" than this one but was still missing some key things. Whatever happened to that guy , last I heard he was being charged with fraud, I believe a guy from Miami flewup and bought the car? The car sold for around $151,000 US ?Did anything happen to him.You guys are a great source of info and I would almost rather have you say Yes or No only ,to anyone who wonders if a B.S. is real or fake, or pretty soon you may not be able to tell???
