IT WAS LATE IN 2003 I MENTIONED TO FRANK ARONE THAT I WAS IN THE MARKET FOR A 69 396/375 CAMARO AND I TOLD HIM IF ANYTHING BECAME AVAILABLE I WOULD BE INTERESTED. THE MORE COMPLETE THE BETTER. FAST FORWARD TO JANUARY 2004 FRANK CALLS ME EARLY ONE MORNING AND TELLS ME THE CAR I WANT IS ON EBAY. I ASK HIM WHAT COLOR IT IS AND HE RESPONDS FATHOM GREEN. I TOLD HIM I’D LOOK AT THE AUCTION AND GET BACK TO HIM. I WAS READING THE AD AND THE AD STATED THE CAR IS BURNISH BROWN. I CALLED FRANK BACK AND TOLD HIM THE CAR IS BROWN NOT GREEN AND I’M NOT BUYING A BROWN CAR. HE THEN PROCEEDS TO TELL ME MY FAMOUS LINE “ WHERES THE NEXT ONE” AND HOW GOOD THAT BROWN WOULD LOOK WHEN RESTORED.
I THEN CONTACTED THE SELLER OF THE CAR AND GOT SOME ADDITIONAL INFO REGARDING THE CAR. I HAD NO PROBLEM WITH THE CAR ITSELF BUT COULDN’T GET PAST BROWN. BEING IN THE COLLECTOR CAR BUSINESS , I ACQUIRE SOME AWESOME CARS THROUGHOUT THE YEARS AND A FEW I GET ATTACHED TO, BUT THERE IS ALWAYS A BUYER THAT COMES ALONG AND MAKES IT WORTH PARTING WITH. I THEN STARTED CONSIDERING THIS BROWN CAR AND I FIGURED IF I BOUGHT A BROWN CAR THAT NOBODY WOULD INQUIRE ABOUT IT BECAUSE ITS BROWN. I CONTACTED THE SELLER THAT AFTERNOON AND WE STRUCK A DEAL AND THE AUCTION WAS SHUT DOWN.
THE CAR IS A 1969 SS 396/375 CAMARO SOLD OUT OF VAN T CHEVROLET IN TOPEKA, KANSAS. THE CARS DOCUMENTATION IS AS FOLLOWS, PROTECTOPLATE, HANDWRITTEN AND TYPED BILL OF SALE, LOAN CONTRACT, FIRST INSURANCE BINDER AND ORIGINAL OWNERS TITLE AND FIRST SPEEDING TICKET FROM 1969.OPTIONS INCLUDE CONSOLE, GUAGES, TACHOMETER,AM RADIO, M20, 3:73 POSI. PAINT AND BODY WAS PERFORMED BY FRANK ARONE AND ARONE AUTO BODY AND RESTORATION WAS HANDLED BY BRIAN AND JOE FROM SUPERCAR WORKSHOP AND MY SHOP EVERY LAST DETAIL. THE CAR WAS COMPLETED IN LATE SPRING 2006 AND HAS BEEN A HIT AT EVERY SHOW IT HAS BEEN ENTERED IN. THE ALLOCADES RECEIVED SO FAR HAVE BEEN YORK US 30 MUSCLECAR SHOW TOP 3 MUSCLECARS AND MOST RECENT FALL 06 CHEVY VETTEFEST A GOLD SPINNER AND TOP GUN AWARD. SPECIAL THANKS TO ALL INVOLVED IN THE RESTORATION. ENJOY THE PICS !!

With apologies to Kenny...I wasn't able to use some of the pics that he sent to me. When I get the other ones sent to me again...they will be posted here also!
KP...awesome Camaro!
None of the pics do the car justice (especially mine). You have to see this car in person to really appreciate how cool it is!
The bottom two shots are from an upcoming Calendar...Kenny will give all the details http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Thanks for sharing your awesome SS with us Kenny!

Regardless of the color, and I love Burnished Brown, that is an awesome car that is beautifully done. I've owned several Fathom Green cars, but, I'm thinking brown may be even better looking.

Tough to argue with that one. It was a pleasure to meet and talk with you at VetteFest and see the car. It is absolutely georgous and that coming from someone who is REALLY anal about detail! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif

Kenny, your car is as close to perfect as I've seen. The pictures remind me how impressed I was with the car at the Chevy Vettefest a few weeks ago. Thanks for displaying it there as well as on this forum. It looks as great in the pictures as it did in person.

It'a all about BROWN!..This is without question one of the best cars we have ever worked on. Super complete and Kenny was a fanatic with the REAL correct nos parts and finding the crazy stuff like genny Firestones etc, that really set the car apart. The color IMO is the cars strong suit. In a sea of orange and yellow and other hi-impact colors, this car just has a glow about it. It sort of pulls you in for a closer look and you just have to respect the color. Joe and I are proud to be part of this car, like all of the project at Super Car Workshop..BKH http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif

I asked Kenny for some reference pictures of detail markings for my car a few months back...he sent some pics of this car in progress. You could tell it was going to be something special...BUT.... WOW. There's only a handful (relatively speaking) in this hobby that restore to the level of detail as depicted in these photos. And, for those who know the effort and resources required to obtain such standards it makes this car all the more superb. BZ Kenny.
"X" - anymore of the fine detail on the under carriage, etc?

This was a great project to do for Kenny.... He said from the beginning that nothing was going to be cut short. His patience with us as well as his overall effort really paid off. I'm truly proud to put my name on this paint job as well as being part of the restoration. I really think that he may actually keep this one around for a while. At least, I hope so..... What can brown do for you ???? What can we say about BROWN? Well, Kenny had asked me this past summer if I would take his truck, trailer and "Brown Sugar" to some car shows. All I can say to that is it was an HONOR. I can't begin to tell you how LONG it would take for me to detail this Camaro, for just one lap with the detail spray. The mobs of people questioning me about this car was NUTZ. Folks couldn't get over the color of this car. I would have never thought of the IMPACT that brown makes on people. I think I might have to change the color of my Yenko to Burnished Brown...NAH! But I guess I have my YENKO in the BEST HANDS http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif
I could go on and on. Kenny CONGRADULATIONS for hanging in there, Cause it was WORTH IT !!!!!!!!!! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif

Wondering where you saw the car? It sat I the garage and-or back yard sense 1980 and was never driven. So, do i know you? The only time it was even started was when I would go out into the garage and start it up to let my friends hear what a real muscle car sounded like...it had MT headers on it and it sounded amazing.
