I want to give the members of this list advance notice that my survivor Z28 will be going on ebay tonight, December 6, at 7:45 pm PST. The Buy It Now is $49k. Here's a copy of the ad:
This sale is part of a downsizing of my 20 car private collection. This Z-28 is one of the most original, highly documented, low mileage survivors out there. It retains it's original numbers matching, born with, drivetrain, and interior, as well as mostly original paint .
We've owned the car for a little more than a year, and regretfully must substantially downsize our collection over the next year. The car runs and drives as new, and with some minor paint restoration, etc. could be one of the very best '70 Z-28's out there.
Original factory and dealer documentation includes:
Window Sticker
Protecto Plate
Tank Sticker (Van Nuys Build Sheet)
Dealer Invoice (Guaranty Chevrolet, San Diego)
Dealer Pre Delivery Inspection Report (showing numerous paint problems with white stripes)
Dealer Invoice (Undercoating at 16 miles)
Owners Manual
Consumer Information Booklet
California Title - pink slip for original owner (copy)
California New Vehicle Temporary ID (windshield tag)
Bill of Sale dated 4/24/92 sale to 2nd owner in Sparks, NV
Nevada Smog Certificate dated 1/5/93, Odometer 09372
Nevada Smog Certificate dated 9/5/2000 Odometer 22525
Texas Title dated 12/5/2003, 3rd owner
Several service invoices including new tires and battery.
If I were to keep this car, I'd repair the dings, nicks, etc., do some spotting in of some areas were the paints chipped or deteriorated, and generally detail the car without sacrificing it's unbelievable originality.
Exterior:
Chrome is excellent, as are bumper, tail lights, glass and wheels. The paint is showing it's age in certain spots such as below the rear window and on the right rear roof area. The car has virtually no rust, as you'd expect from California, Nevada, Texas car. One minor exception I noticed is a small pin hole on the lower right front fender that might take a very small welded patch panel.
Interior:
The interior is all original. The seats, dash panel and gauges are excellent. The carpet and drivers door panel show minor wear, and there is a small tear in the headliner near the left rear. All gauges and accessories work fine, including the reverse lockout, buzzer, and backup lights.
Trunk:
The trunk is factory original with the original spare, jack, decals, etc. No rust.
Engine Compartment and Under Carriage:
The engine and under carriage are not detailed, and are rust free and original. Exceptions to originality are the muffler, tires, MSD electronics and yellow plug wires.
Although I haven't disassembled the car to check all the component number the following are examples of some of the more visable numbers:
Engine block is 3970010 with E10 casing date
Pad stamp is 10L529734 V0513CTB
Transmission is 3925661 with 952659WB on the metal tag, stamping is 10L529734 P0E19A
Alternator is 1100837 0E7
Rear end (12 bolt) is stamped COZ 0609 (3.73 posi)
Carb is List 4489 044 (with insulator plate)
Exhaust Manifold RH is 3946826 dated D230
In summary, with a little work on the cosmetics this car can be one of the very best!
