I was going through one of my car rags and saw #1 is up for sale and worded as being only 1 of 8 with the original drivetrain. Also you needed to call to ask what the selling price is. Was wondering if any of you knew anything about this?

SSJunkie,,,,,I think you mis-interpreted the add. The add says 1 of the first 50 built. It also says 1 of 8 original engine cars. The actual #1 is and probably always will be the race car it was shortly after its initial production. Im assuming Bill P still owns it but the way things change in todays world, since I havent talked to Bill in two years,,,,,who knows!!!! What a Barrett/Jackson auction that car would generate.........Bill S

Bill still owned it in August of this year. We talked to him at the Gibb Show.
The car has been priced a number of times the past few years.

Good question. I don't think I've ever seen another shot of that car in it's original Dusk Blue coat.

Maybe Bill or Helen have some? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Its definately a cool read, its an article from May 2007 "Camaro Performers" by Super Chevy..article is on page 66 called "Hellboy", subtitled "The original ZL1 drag test." Its an article written by Ro Mcgonegal, and recounts his involvement in the test, AND that he was the one who drove the car from the shop to the dragstrip by himself, with less than than 50 miles on it. There are several pictures of the shiney Dusk blue car with cheater slicks, cheap quickie exhaust and glasspacks and some aluminum torque thrust looking wheels on it. Also, several underhood shots of a dirt splattered but new engine compartment. The fastest time of the test was 11.64 @ 122.15 driven by Dick Harrell.
