After 25 years without the car, and now having located it, the suspense is killing me if I can get it back. I called the owner tonight and we spoke for a few minutes. He's going to get some pics on the digital camera and he will be in Omaha Sunday. We are going to get together and talk then. I was hoping to go to him with a trailer in tow. This is driving me insane!!!!

i know the feeling! 2 years ago my siblings and i gave my dad his brothers 69 SS 427 vert that his bro had as a youngster in the early 70's. my dad had a 69 327 hardtop and one day little bro shows up with the big block vert. pretty easy to guess who was jelous in that situation! take it all in and document it. you'll love going over all that stuff in a few years!

Good Luck, I tried to find mine and ended up at a dead end. After I think 1985 it wasn't licenced. I went to the DMV and got the list of all the owners.
Here's a pic from 1977. My 1st new car I ever ordered. 4-spd with air, tint, tilt etc.

Silver would be my other color choice, I love how it looks. I see yours had the Goodyears on it. Dads came with the Firestones that were recalled, I have a closup pic of me cleaning a wheel when it was new and you can see the Firestones still on it.
Hopefully things work out. He has to be thinking about it since he is taking some pics and meeting with me this weekend.

So what 'recall' Firestones were on the car...the famous 500's? .
Here's a link to thread w/ the first half of your story. .

I may have missed it in your previous posts but is your Dad still w/ us? .
Good luck working a deal w/ the current owner! .

Yes dad is still here. Fortunately I was pretty young when he got the car and he had it for a few years before selling it for the 69 RS/SS he had. Dad knows what is going on and he is still very surprised I found it. He will be with me Sunday when we meet the owner.
Dads car had the 500's on it. I don't know anything about them except dad said they were recalled. Yes??
I've learned a ton on the 77's on NastyZ28.com . There was a thread on them that was over 40 pages long and it was packed full of great information. The nice thing is the '77's seem to be a forgotten year. They are slightly rare, 14,000 made with only 5,000 4 speeds. Divide that between all of the colors offered and the number is approximately 800ish. Plus it was the last year of the metal bumpers. Was it fast, nope, but what was in '77.
Hopefully I will have good news on Sunday.

Got any pics that your Dad took when he owned it? They weren't fast but they could handle the corners.

Once again, good luck, I'd be freaking out if I found mine. My '77 was something special to me because it was my first new car I ordered. And yes, I miss it. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif

Awesome find and best of luck putting a deal together.
My Father, who was not a "real" car guy, but was a VP at Chrysler would always talk about his 63 Chrysler 300 Convertible. Whenever the subject turned to cars, (which it often did when my brother and I were around), it was his 300 Convert.
Well...after 32+ years at Chrysler, there was occasional talk about future retirement. Mom, my Bro and I decided to search for a 63 to duplicate that ride. We ended up finding a near duplicate in none other then LaHarpe, IL a year or so later.
We spent several years gathering parts and getting ready for a resto. Unfortunatly, Dad passed away before even retiring and he never knew we had that car along with a huge collection of parts stashed in the back of my garage...
Anyone in the LaHarpe area remember a guy with a bunch of cars in the back of his farm along with a variety of others in his barns in the middle 80's? I remember him saying the 69 Roadrunner belonged to his son?
Anyway, hope you can make this happen, you will be glad you did!

Well he didn't get the pictures taken so we didn't meet on Sunday. He said he will get them and will come over one night this week. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Sorry for no update. I didn't really have an update so I thought I would wait to do another post until I had more info.
I will keep everyone updated when/if I hear something.

one night last year a friend got a call from someone who said he was the original owner of his smokey and the bandit T/A. This car was very clean and my friend said not for sale, not for ten thousand dollars. before the phone call was over he had sold this car for $15,000.00 to the man who proposed to his wife in that car and was buying it back for an anniversary gift.
moral of the story; money talks.
if you really want the car tell him you'd like to see it. bring cash and a trailer.
good luck !!

Great story. Glad to see in your later thread that you got it back. My uncle purchased a 78 Z28 brand new and still has it today. That car is what got me into Camaros and I'm glad he has held on to it all these years. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif
