I have long wondered about the lineage of the Supercar
logo's and/or emblems. Does anyone know where the crest
that Yenko, Harrell, Gibb all shared - came form?

Did Chevrolet license the crest to these dealers? Or, did the
dealers themselves collaborate on a design? Why didn't
Dana, Baldwin-Motion, and Berger use this same crest?

Was it collaboration between some and competition between
others?

BTW, this very site uses the same general crest design.
How did that come about?

I've often wondered about this but never bothered to ask
until now. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hmmm.gif

The Baldwin decal and the by Berger were just two designs of several offered by an outside company that manufactured these for dealers.I have a salesmans sample packet by D-line for this very purpose...The dealer would pick a font, metal, plastic or decal and away they went....Ever notice several "by________" namplates around?

I always felt Yenko used the crest first....Just an opinion... DH was on board with Yenko early on....It may have something to do with the sYc "race" program at the time...But..Most of the early paperwork (66-67) I've seen only shows Yenko Sportscars with the Stinger Logo not the crest as we know it even though it was on the 67 DH Yenko FC ...Good question....

Steve, I've asked that same question this past year. Didn't get answered any better than when you asked it. Someone must know some answers that validate. Dicky http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif

Pretty obvious Don Yenko was the first to use the crest/shield, as seen on the side of the '67 Yenko/DH racecar.

No doubt the first to register the crest/shield, as I have a folder containing all of the correspondence between Yenko and the trademark office, which would not have allowed Yenko to register had it been in use prior, and this email I received from a former employee validates that. Also answers the question several have asked"..what would Don do about folks using his name without permission if alive today...?"

Tom,
In early 70's Don told me he sent a cease and desist letter to Harrell about unauthorized use of shape of Yenko shield, because it was registered. Perhaps someone has a copy of that letter.
