Yup a Ford man. I'm swimming with the sharks !
My name's Phil.

I wanted to try to help my friend figure out exactly what he has in his garage.
I know its not a Yenko but it is still a very cool car. As for me, I cut my "car guy" teeth on my buddys two 69's. An SS and a 68 sport coupe with a 70 Vette's LT1 /Muncie M22 swapped in. I love the 69s for their simplicity of engineering, design, styling and performance. I have a few rust scars from Camaros but I am by no meants anymore than an enthusiast. I need experts for info on this car.

My buddy is a former coworker. Over time, working with me he found out I was a car nut so he mentions he has an old Camaro with a 427 in it. Obviously, I excitedlly asked him about a million questions before he finally said he would try to tell me everything he knew about it. It wasn''t a real lot.
Just what his dad had told him. His dad (a bodyman) passed from cancer about two years prior and he got the car.
The car has sat for 30 years since the engine siezed. My buddy Matt never heard it run in his lifetime. According to Matt the car was bought new by his dad. His dad said it was bought black because he wanted the teal interior. He said it was only available in a black car (unsure of accuracy).
His dad then immediatly stripped the car of its emblems and paint and painted it the color he wanted. The teal shown here. He also moulded the spoiler into the trunklid for what he thought looked better. After the motor siezed he parked it. The last time it moved was when I told my buddy to put it on carpet on jackstands.

I haven't seen the car for a while but I recall a drawer full of perfect emblems.
I THINK I saw SS emblems, not RS and maybe a 350 fender badge. A guy who saw these pix (I have more) said there are engine compartment differences that normally tip off a big block car VS a SBC car. He said this car had the BBC nuances. Can you confirm this?

I am hoping that you can; decode the VIN, verify the car as an original small block car (or BBC car), the availability of teal interiors with other exterior colors and maybe the rarity of this car (and for my curiosity, value)

Before anyone asks, this car will never be sold. Its my buddy's conection to his dad. His dad never fixed it back up but it was considered a prize to him. Matt was unemployed for a very long time and never ditched this car. I think he'd sell a kidney 1st, and yes, I asked. (about the car, not the kidney)

Thanks!!!!!

Looks like it was originally an L35 car 396/325 hp. .

Can you read the numbers off the extended deck surface at the front of the pass side head and post them here? .

This car seems familiar...did you or your chum post this here about a year back? .

I'll ask Matt to look.
I had this car posted up on the Ford forums I frequent. I think a Camaro guy shopped them around the internet so they may have made their way here.

Matt finally scored a good job and may finally start on this car. I told him I'd do a little more research for him.

Is there a way to tell the engines visually besides casting numbers?
A 429 and a 460 longblock are visually identical. I'm not sure how to tell on BBCs

I believe this car was discussed here before. Wasn;t it painted right after purchase or something like that?

Do you know where the car was bought new? maybe it has a dealer emblem somewhere?
The mirrors on the car are 70 or newer, it is a factory big block car as has already been stated the 4N indicates 396 325hp, it also has a big block heater core in it. The trim tag was painted white like that from the factory so please do not disturb it.
How many miles are on it?

Okay...time for some learning...why would the trim tag be painted white like that from the factory? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hmmm.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

There have been numerous 67 Norwood cars that have been found like that... I have no idea why... maybe Kurt or JohnZ knows.... Calling the Camaro Jedi's

Yep, it was on ebay or Team Camaro for sale a while back and it was discussed here. Cool car http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif Black, who would want a black '67? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I REALLY don't think Matt's car was ever up for sale. If the pix were these exact ones then it was a scam. I never gave him a copy of them.
I guess he is signed up for this forum now and perhaps he'll post up.
Have a link to the sale post?

Anyway, matt is trying to post pix he took and emailed to me so I thought I'd give him a leg up if your interested. He is curious why the SS badges if its an RS package?
I have never seen teh original black photo before and even as a Ford nut I am pretty floored by what a hot car this must have been new:

Hey Phil...love the 'in black' pic! .

The SS badging won when equipped w/ both options. .

Did you manage to get any numbers off that extended deck surface below the head at the front pass. side? .

Nice '70 Fairlane...I'm no Ford guy but somehow always liked the '70 Falcon 2 Dr. post cars! .
Did you check out the Fords in SUPERSPORT'S post? .
