Over the summer my tach started to stick around 3000 rpm. not all the time. When the car was off I could tap the speedometer lense and the needle would fall back down in place. By September it was stuck on 3k. So tonight I pulled my dash apart to see if it is stuck and it was. It is almost like the dial has a flat spot on it. It catches around 3k. My question is does anyone know a good tach restoration place I can call to ask them about the problem and maybe get a quote on what it will cost to have it repaired. The tach still does work.

Thanks Jason

Sometimes they get corroded on the movement. If you carefully move the needle back and forth around the trouble area it will most often go away. The next option os taking the tach apart and carefull sanding the corrosion away from the trouble area. Other than that you are better off getting a repro tach to use and store the original away as repair will most likely exceed replacement cost.

Jason...

I had one of my Sun Tachs restored by Gary "The Tach Man". He does excellent work and
your tach or gauge comes back with a 1 year warranty. I would highly recommend Gary to anyone who needs instrument cluster gauges restored.

Jason break it down and the trick is grab your number 2 pencil and use the eraser to clean the contact sweep and it should move good at that point... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif
