They can be found on Ebay...though the style that you need is a later verson.

I have 3 of the earlier version. The look like this...

Xplantdad....Do you own a car from that dealership? I wish you would sell me them if you don't LOL. The pic I submitted is from a 1970 Chevrolet Station Wagon that ended up going overseas a couple years ago. I have done searches on ebay for the last 4 years and they dont seem pop up for me. What is the search title you use to find these. I have used license plate frames and millions of newer undesirable pages of useless new frames pop up. I have been collecting dealership emblems for some time and if someone from this site has a car from there I will surely oblige if I have it. Thanks for the info as I will keep looking.

Yep.

My brother does... Click here! (http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/125437/an/0/page/4#125437)

Since I got them from ebay for him (and they are a Christmas present) I don't know that he'll want to give them up (One I found on Ebay is already on his car).

I am going to SoCal this coming weekend for Christmas. I'm going to check a few of the antique shops in Fullerton and a couple of junkyards, too! I'll see what I can come up with.

I'll let you know... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Thanks Bruce .....I would appreciate that. I would be willing to accept any plate frames of any 60s-80s era from CONE if you found any. Do you by any chance have the sellers ebay ID as they usally sell more of them? Are you from the Phoenix area as I thought I saw some pics of the Pavillions you submitted. I lived in Phoenix for 12 years and also purchased my L78 Nova in Glendale AZ. My car was raised in Fullerton and the Anaheim CA area. I was able to trace the original owner and found out the car sold new at Cone in Fullerton and was traded in at Cone Bros in Anaheim. I believe the 2 dealers had to be related. Here is a pic of a old Cone Bros plate frame.

Cone Bros. Fullerton
Zone # 20
Dealer # 123

Kim,
Are you the same L78 Nova owner that posted this cool info below on the NCRS site?.

"...Cone Bros. had ties to Drag racing heavy in the 60s and early 70s and sponsored cars of the era such as Hayden Profitts 62 Z11 Impala.
Also had ties to Bill Thomas race cars of Anaheim CA. Nickey Chevrolet fame.
The Owner of Cone also was a board member at the Orange County International raceway.
My 70 Nova L78 came from this dealer. I also would like to know if they were related to Cone Bros Chevrolet in Anaheim..."

Hi Pete...Yes I was the one who had submitted that data. I made a mistake and it should be Cone Chevrolet Fullerton and not Cone Bros Anaheim. The story I added is true but I had the wrong Cone. I have one plate ring but would like to have a second as CA. dealers had a habit of mounting them on front and rear. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Those are nice but later issue 70 and up frames.

Chuck always has the goods though, IMO!!!

The lower frame pictured here is most likely correct for 68-70 specific years only!

http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h170/rpoz11/ConeChevroletPlateFrameImages.jpg

Typically, by the maunfacturer who made these on the west coast, as noted on the below image, the Tear Drops on the lower mounting of the License Plate Frame / License Plate was general issue back then. This is not to say that each dealer followed this pattern; as per the above CONE issued frames!

We have a few sets of the Cone frames like the ones shown above...and the date coding on the back matches up to 1967...and living in the area I remember the red frames being the later issued ones (similar to the Selman frames of the time) http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

BTW, Chuck bought these from the same guy I bought mine from...at the same time. Chuck out bid me...and the guy had another set that he sold to me http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

RE:RPOz11 Thanks for your reply.....I have not had any luck as of yet. Iam still looking for 1 good one. The lower style of the Black dealer plate(s) pic you submitted. The pic of the plate and frame I attached in the beginning of the thread was from an original one owner 1970 full sized wagon that was sold new in the same month my car was and the blue plate alpha numeric id are very close to my car as well. The ones that were on ebay (427 king) are from a earlier style as stated later on in the thread. I did not know ther was dates cast into these frames and would be curious as to where they are? I believe Robert Brown co. out of Downey CA. was doing most of the frames in the southern Ca. area. Thanks to all who are helping out as well.

Kim,

I was in SoCal recently...and went into some antique places that I know of. I didn't have any luck with plate frames...but I did find a cool yardstick from Banner Chevrolet in Denton TX...from 1969 with the slogan...putting you first keeps us first!

I will keep looking though! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Thanks Bruce......I know you would have given me a holler and still would if you found any. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif. I did want to ask you if you or your brother had a better picture of the CONE plate or placard that was on the front of your brothers car (67 Camaro) when the original owner brought it home. The one pic you submitted looks like it may have been card stock due to the curling on the outside edges.

I finally have the right vintage 1970 CONE Fullerton plate frames that I acquired a few years ago for a healthy sum and collected several others over the years that need restoring. I like the CONE BROS ones that you are showing. They look better than NEW!!!. I have one of those also that do not look that sweet. I collected quite a few So. Cal. frames over the years. I would be willing to do trades for the correct frames.

I thought I would add my Cone collection of items. I run my numbers through the NCRS recently and it matched my other docs. Here is my matching frames that have one for the front of the car and the rear. I also recently aquired a ultra rare Cone Placard. Those of you guys searching for your dealership trinkets never give up as you will hopefully come across what you are looking for if you are patient. It took me several years but I finally scored. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics/usergals/2014/07/full-444-13683-cones_front_and_rear_paid.jpg

Hey Bruce.....I thought of you when I finally scored the placard and studying your brothers Camaro fresh from the dealership pic in 66-67 for years. Also I always wondered if these people (Original owner name of Bryant) were related to Sonny Bryant the CA. Pro Stock driver in the late 60s early 70s? Anyhow I sent you a PM. We'll work out something so your Bro can get one or 2. Later Kim

Kim,

Yes, the car was owned by Sonny Bryant. Mom and Dad were on the title. Martha, Sonny's mom lived right down the street from us in Orange, Ca on Shaffer Street...and was still living there when Gary got the 67 registration mailed to him (from her).

Sonny still has his business on Batavia St. in Orange and still builds killer crankshafts for all of the big name race teams. Gary has talked to him about the car <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/beers.gif

Since you have done the research, can you tell me what year these are from? Notice the oblong hole for the bolt. On the back they also say: "No.9 Robert W. Brown Downey, Calif." Thanks!
