View Full Version : Car storage
Well I am going to re-model the front of my house which includes the front of the garage to make room for a stacker lift for my two cars ( LS-5/COPO )problem is I need to store the 70 while the job is being done. I found a spot for the COPO but finding two spaces is a problem. Ideas/suggestions??Thought about a storage facility but had concerns about security. Anyone have any info on that.Cost is a small isuue..but security is number 1. Job will take about 3 months Feb-May plans are almost ready they should start around Feb 1. Thanks

When you stop in over Christmas bring the car - you can park it in my 3rd bay. I have 2 security systems, a dog, live in a cul de sac...right now my stalls are empty until end of June. Your call. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif
Lee a most generous offer..if you were only a little closer http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif but just maybe http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Albert,
Try asking your friends and nieghbors...you need to find the little old lady with the heated garage with extra space.
Try calling your insurance agent...they usually have other clients that have high end toys that need winter storage.
Good luck....less than two weeks for that New Years buzz. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Sam, AL saw through my offer - I guess when I offered to also "exercise" his gorgeous 70 for him (Free of charge mind you) he got cold feet....I don't understand why? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Ive done several of the storage units from time to time and i felt pretty comfortable with them...they have the secured entrance, cameras and the people live on site.....and they usually do a deal for payment up front for 6 month, pay for 5 u get one free. My only issue is the cost....10X 20 varies but its 150 or so per month....adds up fast.
My addition was planned for 3 months as well....it took 7 due to weather etc.....maybe you can put a clause in the contract that covers the storage if it extends beyond the time they indicated.
ive done an ad as well, and have had some good luck with the little old lady approach, where they have no car but a 2 car garage.....ive rented these for as little as 25 a month....done one for 7 yrs that way. Still have access to it in Aliquippa PA.

bad idea, I did that once...guess what got busy and did not check in as often as I should have, she passed on, and her kids flew into town got rid of everything and sold the house, lost tons of stuff, thank goodness I had moved a car that was there...now that sucked!! did not go well when I stopped by to give her rent money and the new owners were playing in the yard with there kid...I think I cried.

I did the same, i guess her son had an old floor buffer in the attic, well you can guess what happened when he decided he needed it. Came there and the old lady just shrugged her shoulders when i asked about the caved in hood!!! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

See if anyone is going south for the winter and takes their car with them....you may find a heated garage that sits empty all winter. I would offer to keep an eye on their place...you know stop over once a week so there is some activity. You might get it for free in this kind of deal. Storage is a royal pain..so you have to be creative.

That is the way to go. I provide house watching services and get a two car garage to store car and hopefully pull my tranny this winter. Had a huge barn a few years back, could hold three or four cars and the boat. Storage is the reason I am down to one car.
http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif thats funny, I had about five cars before I was married, I always seemed to find somewhere to park. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

There is a place in Voorhees, NJ that specializes in collector car storage, can't remember the name though. Looks like a regular storage place but all he does is cars(as far as I know). Climate controlled and secured.
