Well I got the car home today. It was a great feeling to get it back but the years and previous owners were not kind to it. You will see what I mean in the pics. It is a great but depressing day for me. Anyways, if anyone has any Camaro parts send me a PM or email. I need just about everything. Enjoy the pics.

Congrats again and cheer up Lewis...you're beat and just need a couple of cold ones. .

Aside from maybe the mailbox on the hood, it looks great! .

Later it'll all make perfect sense that this Camaro sitting in your shop in the condition it's in today is worth more than any other that could be there...really! .

Don't ever be depressed........This is a car from the era I grew up during.I have seen much worse, believe me.I would be thrilled to have it with me. I know the reason you are bummed is because of it's condition. It is really not that far gone. That car is a keeper just 'cause of your dad. Also,it is a great car to have.I have an un-loved by the masses 85 Z28 that my boy is thrilled with just because we worked on it together!Keep that Z forever...you won't regret it!!!.............BILL

Congrats on geting the car! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif The condition could have been way worse. It'll look nice restored. I dated a girl that had a white '77 Z. It was a nice one. Um, yeah, the car too! Enjoy the resto and post pics as you go.

Wow, it looks about a million percent better just getting all that dirt off the exterior! Congrats on getting it back. Don't get discouraged....there are so many people who can only wish they could get back a car that was a part of their family's history http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Don't be bumbed out. I've seen real crap in Overhaulin that was a jewel after the restoration. Buy new parts/repo and away you go after the media blast. Wish mine was around.
What's your Dad saying?

Dad hasn't seen it yet, mom was ready to cry just from what I told her on the phone. They took such pride in the car when they had it and to know it is trashed is pretty upsetting for all of us. I can fix it with enough time.

There's nothing to cry about in that car. That looks to be a relatively easy restoration.

Always remember the first rule of restoration: "All things get uglier before they get prettier." http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/scholar.gif

You achieved the near impossible already: YOU GOT THE CAR BACK! 99.9% of people out there never achieve that goal. It's all gravy from this point on.

That is just plain cool. Yeah...there is a lot of work needed, but remember, that is THE CAR your Dad used to own, and that makes it worth much more then most can imagine.

Reminds me of a nice 70 Challenger R/T Convertible I owned in the early 80's. When I bought it from the second owner, it was pretty rough and I was newly married and didn't have much in the way of extra money. Worked long and hard to get it back to presentable shape and even stripped the ugly F3 Green paint off and had it repainted in the original PW1 white...even though it had a green interior! Heck, that's the way they made it and even then I liked 'em original! (other then the Cragar SS/Ts I had to put on it).

Anyway, several years later I sold it to a father and son. The Dad promised me he would make sure the kid respected it. Well, less then a year later I saw it sitting in a local community college parking lot. Smashed, jacked up, mis-matched wheels, bald rear tires, a sliced convertible top. I almost cried right then and there.

What I would give to own that car again, regardless of what it is worth.

Keep us updated! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif
