A few days ago I wrote an email to Joel Rosen and Marty Schorr asking them if they had ever considered building a continuation series of the Phase III GT Corvette but, this time with modern running gear (I volunteered by '69 Corvette as a prototype; anything to help out http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif).
I also recounted the time my Dad took the whole family to Motion Performance to check out the Phase III Camaros right after the 1969-70 NY Auto Show. I described the pearl yellow and black Phase III GT Corvette we saw as well as the Classic Copper Camaro that was being turned into a Phase III Camaro. Marty Schorr replied telling me that the Camaro is in California, still owned by the original owner and the Coevette is in a collection in Indianapolis; how cool is that? These great cars are still around; if anyone knows who owns these cars I would love to see some current pictures of them.
BTW: they have considered building a continuation Phase III Corvette and offered to build me one........too bad I didn't hit the lottery this week.
Here's the 74 Vette in the Indianapolis owners collection, who is a member here.

While that's a beautiful car it's not the one I saw at the shop. The one I saw did not have the stripe running down the side of the car, did not have the slotted tail lights, just had the "GT" emblems on the side, no 454 as the car was equipped with a 427.
I am also pretty sure the car was a 1969 so it would not have had that style grille. I have never seen pictures of the car I remember in any magazines or in any threads on tis site. I hope it survived in tack all these years.

Dan's Yellow/Black GT is a 70..not 74.. And there was only one (the 1st 69 prototype).."possibly" two Phase III GTs that had the stock rear tail lights and not the slotted ones.. And both cars were Hugger Orange w/ Black stripes. So maybe the Yellow one you saw back then was a Baldwin/Motion SS427 Vette perhaps?? Did it have the flat back rear window or the open headlights? No doubt it was a 427 car if it was 69. I believe all GTs from 1970-72 (very few that there were) were 454s.

The car did have the flat back window and may have had the slotted tail lights; I just don't recall them as being so large as the ones in the picture posted a few postings ago. The ones I remember were narrower; more like '67-68 Firebird lights.
This car also had the exposed lights, flip top gas cap, "GT" emblems on the tail and the special hood. I disctinctly recall the paint being pearl yellow with black stripes, 4-speed, black interior and cool as hell!!!

Does anyone have a picture of the Orange/Black 'Vette?
I knew of one in N.Y. & remember it having the black rear/side stripe; really large down the sides.
I've been looking for pics but can't seem to find any like that one I remember.

How many of the Phase III GT Corvettes have been accounted for? I can't believe that no one remembers the particular car that I saw at Motion back then. I am also surprised that nobody recalls the Classic Copper Phase III Camaro.

Thats not supprising.. I mean Larry's white/gold 70 phase III GT was the baddest and most expensive GT Motion built and it was never photographed or written about or even known about until Larry made it public a few years ago. The original owner (a kid) was so impatient to get it and up Joels a$$ so much about it that he took delivery of it before Motion even had a chance to put the Hone in it that was ordered. So its not supprising for alot of those cars Motion built to just been put together and taken home by the new owner never to be photographed (except privately perhaps) or seen again... much less remembered. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif

That's a shame since I think they are some of the coolest cars of their day. Some might consider them a bit over the top but, when you've got the performance to back it up who cares?

Did all of the Phase III GT's have such large cut outs for the slotted tail lights? The car that I recall seeing as a kid had much narrower tails lights unless my memory is starting to go one me (getting old you know).
