I have been considering doing this for quite some time and
I finally decided to give it a go. I always wanted to build
a ZL-1 tribute car exactly like the one the GM design studio
did for Vince Piggins back in the day. It was black with
gold Z/28 style stripes ( you all know the one I'm referring to ). http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

In any event, I am trying to amass as much information about
paint colors, specifications, as many images as possible &
information on the ZL-1 emblems that were on that car. I
would like to ask for as much input as any of you can give.
I tried to find some on-line reference about this car, but
I came up rather dry. Can any of you offer web sites and/
or images or information about this car. The drivetrain is
going to be the easier of the things to do - I think.

Thanks,
Steve

BTW, I remember hearing here ( a few years ago ) that
someone else may have built a tribute car just like the
one I am referring to. Any info on that car or individual
would be appreciated.

Yeah its true. Someone posted some pictures of it here a while back. Let's see if we can find them...

EDIT: Here are the pictures.. And here is the thread (http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/90891/page/0/fpart/1/vc/1) where they came from.. Lots of hot air going around in the discussion so be warned...

Yep Darren! That's the thread I remember. Thanks! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif

Looks like Al Wallace was the one that built the replica
ZL-1 mule car I was referring to. Anyone have any idea
how I can get in touch with him? I'd like to find out more
about the ZL-1 emblems he made, paint, etc..

It could just be the stance/positioning...but:

There's something about the bias-ply's that just look right on that car (original). Something to think about if you're trying to do a tribute.
