I was interested if anyone knows about the CHEETAH continuation race cars being built. I saw one last year and they look and sound great, they are also supposed to be approved and authenticated by BILL THOMAS. They are selling for $150,000.00 Any thoughts?

Ever sit in one ? The one I had here a few years ago basically sat you between the headers and trans. Was known as a oven.

Has anyone seen the new Continuation Cheetah Roadster? They had a couple on display at Bloomington Gold.

------A Corvette restoration guy named Bob Auxier, originally from north Illinois now from Phoenix, did a ton of development work (molds and jigs for frame etc.) on the new Cheetahs with Bill T's blessing. Where Im a bit fuzzy is where the guys who were at Bloomington and at Russo/Steele in Scottsdale fit into the puzzle. What would have been smart (why do things the easy way???) would have been if I had just asked them, but I never got around to it. I dont think Bob was selling anywhere near enough of them to make a living so he may have sold the project off or the merchandising of them off. But it seemed as if these new guys were saying they were constructing theirs themselves when I read the flyer.....Still confused as usual!!!.....Bill S

Bob Auxier/Phoenix is the manufacturer. Ron Keck/Bloomington Gold display is one of the distributors/dealers,licensed by Bob.

I want one... but I'm still confused about the diference between the "Continuation" and "Continuation Collectable".
As stated: "The Cheetah Continuation Collectable is not street legal or intended for vintage racing. For information on the racing version of the Bill Thomas Cheetah, visit: www.cheetahracecars.net (http://www.cheetahracecars.net)"
He needs bigger videos on the web site.

------Thanks Steve,,,Such a limited market, but maybe they dont need to sell many??? I see a bunch of typical "disclaimer" stuff, that I guess is just the lawyers talking , but just where do you use your new Cheetah purchase if its not street legal and you cant use it on the track either??? Wonder how they are titled???..........Bill S

This is pretty neat. I spent some time talking to Bill Keck at Bloomington and they are really cool.
A "little birdie" tells me there may be a Very Special version premiering at Chevy Vettefest!

A local guy here in the Cleveland area is re-creating the "Street Cheetah". The company name is Ruth Restorations, he specializes in Corvette restorations... He is in Columbia Station, Ohio which is a suburb of Cleveland approx. 20-25 minutes outside of same.. His web address is www.ruthcorvette.com (http://www.ruthcorvette.com) I personally know him and he is a nice guy.. RICH http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif
There was a neat one racing at Road America over the weekend. As Bob said, they were at Bloomington, also.
Pretty cool cars that would be terrifying to drive.
Anyone taken one for a drive?

Bob Auxier, Ron Keck, Ronnie Kaplan, Don Swiatek and the Thomas' will be working on a possible Nickey Edition Cheetah, to be debuted at the upcoming Fall Vette Fest this November 18-19th.
Bill Thomas was commissioned to build a race car which could beat the competition, back in the day, mainly the Shelby Cobras. While Cheetahs were few and far between, they were and are very competitive race cars.
A Continuation Cheetah also took a class second place at the Road America Concourse. While a non descript black driver vehicle took the over all best of best honors. I believe it belongs to a member????

I believe Bob Auxier was building these looong before he has the blessing of Bill Thomas....the Racine, WI Harley-Davidson dealer Mark ?? owns a few including one that has been raced by Bensenville pipe/tube bender and ex stock car racer Bob Boyce at Road America for a few years now.....The guy who was at Bloomington told me he only sells the street version where the HD dealer sells the racing version.....Bob Boyce was back at Elkhart lake a week (or so) ago racing the continuation Cheetah (rumor has it he is building one of his very own).....redvetracr

I met "Cheetah Bob" many years ago in Phoenix and sold him so big block Corvette parts. Big brake parts if I remember correctly. Anyway, he had an original Cheetah that he had all cut up to make molds from and was in the planning stages of repoing the car completely.
I heard a couple of years ago that he finally got tired of sinking money into the venture and gave up on it. Then a couple of guys from Scottsdale wanted to revive the venture and got Bill Thomas involved in it from the standpoint of "endorsing it." It sounded to me like it never really got off the ground that time either. I think I remember seeing some kind of an ad for the cars and I believe that I knew at least one of the guys involved but can't for the life of me remeber the connection.

------Bob A had one on display at B/J many years ago, and while people were lined up to look at it, I dont think he generated an order that whole week. With what even an outdoor space costs at B/J, I got the feeling that Bob was very disappointed.........Bill S

I saw a buddy of mine this weekend that owns a Corvette Restoration shop that is in the same industrial complex that Cheetah Bob is in. I was not aware that Bob was there as I have not been to my buddies shop in years. He told me Bob was folding up the shop.

Bob did close the shop. I was at Barrett Jackson three weeks ago, but due to bad weather never hooked up as I normally do. He had a display under the seating area near where the cars exited. He is working out of his home shop again. With the current economy and Bill Thomas's death last October, there was to much pressure to keep the shop open. Bob is a hell of fabricator, and I wish him luck this year.
