Looking for a good 4spd shifter hump out of a 68 or 69 Fullsize chevy Impala, caprice, etc. Bench and console are the same. Also need in any condition the upper and lower console boots and the two retaining rings plus the 4spd speedo cable.( speedo cable is the same from 65 I think)
Thanks in advance for the assistance.

Well I got the upper retaining ring ( two in fact) and a line on a hump. Must be someone has this stuff stashed. Still looking for the rest.
Tks Joe

If you can wait a while, I may sell my spare floor hump if my original can be saved (was hacked for the infamous V-gate shifter).

Thanks Tony for the offer. Guess what is wrong with ours cut by jig saw to install a v-gate, but they also cut the top of the console also. Have a few consoles so we are OK there.
I think we are going to be OK on the hump also. I've looked for at least a year for a good one and in the last few days they are falling from the sky. Actually found 4 of them and have a deal worked out with one guy.

Hi Pete:
I know most of the guys are not into big chevys but we are just going through the list of what we are missing to complete a frame off on a canadian documented 68 Impala SS427 Z03Z24 coupe, one of only 4 built in canada. She is going to be nice. All numbers matching. I had her since the early 80's so got most of the parts nos from GM when things were reasonable.
She has a dealer installed m22 which was installed when the car was 1 month old by the original owner, we have the m20 also but of course we overhauled the m22.Apparently the original owner could not get it unless he ordered a l-72 but wanted nothing to do with solid lifters so did the next best thing.

Whttp://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gifW Mac...sounds really great especially being a Canadian car!!! .

I expect you've grabbed the GM documents and that's where the 4 unit production number came from? .

Is it Oshawa built...and would that be an IE or IH suffix? .

Do you know why they needed to still include the Z03 SuperSport option on a Z24 SS427 equipped car...I can understand the Z03 alone for other engine SS cars but when you went for the Z24 you'd think it'd all be included...maybe some trim needed specifying? .

And that'd be "the original engine" not 'numbers matching'...right? .

Yes Sir George was a big help in that area
Not Oshawa built, quebec if I remember right. I keep getting his 3 68's mixed up.
Her engine code is real interesting TO1113T3 That is what it says in the documents and the block matches no IH anywhere. Never seen anything like it before. No one can tell us why it was stamped T3 nor can they tell us what the special z49 canadian package listed in her options was.
You did not have to order the SS z03 package to get the z24, in fact a lot did not. The z03 gave you the bucket SS interior order just z24 and you got impala interior bench seat.
No her engine is the original numbers matching out of the car with vin GM gang stamped. The m22 has no vin on it since it was ordered over the counter but the m20 does.

St. Therese was the Quebec plant...it's gone now but only in recent years. .

The 3T3 Suffix...there was a post here a few months back with a Canadian '68 big car w/ a similar suffix...of course I can never find anything with the search thing? .

Canadian suffixes were sometimes numbers not letters, yes even Mk1V Tonawanda built stuff...there's a few 4 series suffixes from BB Chevelles known also a bunch of SB ones too...I have a few old listings but think there was no 3 series BB ones when I looked last time...I'll look again anyway. .

The car sounds very cool...the M22 dealer install part too...how's the hood survived? .

Original hood is actually not bad. Has the usual rust on the underside which will clean up and is normal on these but the top side is perfect. The louver needs to be rechromed and one stud is broken. I took the hood off in the early 80's so it has been indoors. No e-bay or internet at that time only hemmings to find parts. Also parted out a original z24 rag so have a few of the extra hard to find parts. I still have her drive train and title. She was pretty plain . bench seat column shift th400.That hood needs the inner bottom replaced and has some rust across the front.
We probally parted 6 or 7 of these big coupes BB over the years also.

Thanks guys for all of your help behind the scenes on this.
Have the upper retainers in hand, the hump, lower boot and retainer in the works along with a second NOS lower boot and a line on a upper boot.

Just missing the speedo cable if you know where any of those are located new or used. It is the real long one that enters the trans on the pass side.

Thanks again

Joe

Will do Phil. They are hens teeth as you know. I fluked this one. It was marked 67 camaro. Wish someone would repo them most of us need them just the slider hides the remains of the original on many cars.

I can give you lots of ripped ones unfortunately. Lets just wait until they repo them, then the NOS ones will surface. I remember looking for a 66 impala upper console boot and a guy had 6 but wanted 400 each. Out comes the repo at 37 bucks and shortly after his NOS ones were on e-bay with a starting bid of 20.00.With some selling for that. Same thing is going to happen with these eventually. There is a guy right now working on the mold for the bench 68/69 if that goes well he is going to do the others so he says.

I restored a 69 Impala SS427 and it needed an upper boot. Will have to check my records but seems like I found a repro for a reasonable price and it worked just fine. Will try to rmemember to look it up and get back with you.

That would be great. I know some guys are using I think 67/68 camaro ones cutting them to fit. I have not tried one myself.

Now that you mention it, I may have used a 69 Chevelle repro, need one with square hole for Hurst shifter. Seems like the only difference was the attachment holes in the boot did not align with the holes in the metal retainer but that was no problem. I love my 69 Impala, can't find a better riding vehicle and everyone wants to know what's really under the hood!!

Just thought you guys may like to see what the upper 68 69 console boot looks like if anybody is wondering. The picture attatched is of an NOS one that was on ebay several years ago.

As far as I know this one isn't being reproduced. The problem with the design was that the tapered edge of the vinyl slider piece would cut into the boot where it fits around the handle and after a few rubs switching from 2nd to third, it would start to split. It was also just a very thin piece of rubber. I dont think the lower is being reproduced either. It is pretty surprising, because these would no doubt do well for whoever decided to make and sell them. I bid that NOS upper up to over 400 and was still outbid.

Thanks Steve for the picture. Wish I had 100 of them. I am not aware of any reproduction at this time. But I know someone is going to do the 68/69 bench boot and talked about doing this one next if there was enough interest.
