Just wondering if anybody has read Smokey's book "Best Damned Garage In Town"
I usually burn up the charge card ordering books off amazon.com, but have delayed on this - guess Im not sure what to expect of this one.
Anybody read?
Does the 'life story' of a great racer/builder hold much appeal?

I read it when it first came out. He was one horny son-of-a-gun. It's amazing he found time to work on engines! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It's a worthwhile read, he was certainly his own man and lived in the right time. Toughest part is that its written just like a series of recorded conversations with an end-of-life Smokey. It can tend to ramble and repeat itself. If you're easily offended, its probably too vulgar a read. (But given the borderline-obsessive Linda Vaughn fan club here, I think most can probably handle it) http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

One of the best books I ever listened to. I bought the audio version of it. Smokey thought outside the box in every thing he did, if you don't appreciate that train of thought you probably would not care for the book. If you think Bill France was/is the god of everything racing, you will not like the book. Smokey called it like he saw it, did not sugar coat it, and did not care who he pissed off. Remember, he was the guy that drove his car home before a Daytona race after taking the pole. Great guy, great book IMO.
Oh, if you are into politically correctness, don't read it either. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
