Pete

-------42 was my home track. Only about 20 minutes from my Dads house. We lived in Chippewa Lake, well, not in it. I dont recognize much as I wasnt there in 71. Had moved to Fla. Anglia might have been the Mr.Gasket car??? The Corvette also looked familiar.......Bill S

Here is the Evans Camaro.....It ran in different color schemes in those years...With red and blue custom panel paint...both versions had Earl Evans on the door in a Bowtie.I believe the later version had Dale Evans on the doors above Earl Evans Chevrolet,no Bowtie...One of my favorite local Camaros from the day....A COPO no less..

I assume that camaro is connected to Earl Evans Chevrolet? (the same one that sold the ex Keith Hutson '67 Yenko Camaro with the sidepipes?)

I have two pics from an old newspaper showing the Yenko Camaro on the showroom floor, and Dick Harrell standing next to his '67 Camaro f/c on the showroom floor.

Interesting...Another local racer/enginge builder Ron Hutter owned Hut's Dyno ,TSE, and later Hutter Performance..he raced a 67 sponsered by DH Performance. At the very least the 67 was lettered on the rear qtrs (not in the usual script though).I have a few pics of a DH "Super John" car racing Hutter at Thompson.....as well as the Vega and a FG DH 70 Camaro FC.....Dick must have had some strong ties in NE Ohio.......Like to see the pic...I can post some more of the others later if anyone is interested..

I'll work on the pics, they are small, black-n-white, and blurry - but cool!

Speaking of Drag 42, I have a 69 COPO Camaro , Dover White 4 sp that was based in New Philadelphia ,OH vin 9N666608 I am miising owners from 1969-early 80's The car was raced by Dr. Wm DeLanza (dentist) and wrenched by Mike Shane. It was raced locally , likely including Drag 42, Magnolia and Quaker City. The car is nicely back-halfed, w/roll bar. It went from white to a dark red at one point. After it was painted red (wine color) it was not lettered. No info on lettering when it was white. I was told that the car was previously owned by a Gary Brown (used to work for Mr Gasket , doing drag events) but the name is extremely common.

Steve,

I have a '69 Chevelle that was raced in the Canton area mostly out of Magnolia Dragway from the summer of '69 thru '77. I am in contact with the original owner and will ask him if he remembers your car. Magnolia is still open (I think it is an 1/8th mile track now), but you may try to contact the folks at the track to see if they can help you. Contact Magnolia (http://www.magnoliadragstrip.com/) or call them at (330) 866-1500. ] http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif
