The rolled edge tips were on all the early '69 BB Chevelles, I believe. Anyone have info on the approx. date of the switch to the "regular" tips?

Chambered exhaust was available on any BB Chevelle for 1969 just as long as it was ordered...the most being on L78, L89... 4 speeds.
Wilma the Rolled Tips are rare and hard to find....$$$.

I believe it was phased out between March and April 1969 depending on the plant due to rust issues with the rolled tips. The new 2nd design 1970 tip came without a rolled lip or a stamped in part number. The part number was added some time in late 1971 if I recall correctly.

I have a 69 chevelle with the 325hp 396 that came with the chambered exhaust. It's on the window sticker.

A friend of mine (who eventually married my cousin) had an early build '69 L-34 car with Chambered exhaust and rolled tips. That's the car that made me change the exhaust on my '68 Chevelle. system.

George Lyons gave a how to on making a set of rolled tips, he made them for the Yellow Malibu trimmed COPO... if memory serves he cut a piece of steel tubing in half length wise then welded it to the rear edge of the tips then had them rechromed...

Yeah, repros were pretty much hand made and expensive....until Ground Up started offering them for under $100 a couple of years ago.
