Schonye took the Deuce just after SCR8 to "clean" it up a bit and do some fix-its, but the more we got into it...the more it became apparent that the right thing to do was complete restoration. We conferred with the original owner, Moses Long, and he agreed it would be nice to bring it back to it's original new condition when he drove it off Dale Chev's lot 37 years ago. It got home last night...thanks Schonye!

I had the pleasure of visiting 'Deuce Heaven' just before the end of 2006 and seeing this car in the works. Unfortunately I didn't get back to see it in finished condition, although the Mayor and First Lady did invite me to do exactly that. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
It's no secret that I lust for Deuces and probably will as long as I draw a breath so, needless to say, I was in Heaven standing in the Deuce Capitol of the Midwest.
The Wizards from Donahue put out another great piece. Congratulations to the Schoenthalers, and to the Sandlins. Another piece of history well preserved, and in Great Hands!

Thank you for the kind words, but especially thanks to SS for allowing us to work on the deuce. Also thanks to everyone who helped with parts, and information. The level of help found here is just great.
Moses was "on the job" from day one. He was an absolute wealth of knowledge, and a phone conversation was rarely shorter than an hour. I do regret that he was unable to see it before it left.
It left just as the temp took the big dive, and the ice, and snow came in. I breathed a big sigh of relief when Steve said it had gotten there.
Before I for get, "just bad Joe" shot the color. Guess it was a good thing his mom made me keep him instead of throwin him back. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Again, thanks to everyone, and like Marlin says,"another one saved, and back on the road. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

Steve..............I don't know what I can say that hasn't been said already.
It looks like Kenny and his crew did a great job of restoring it and it is certainly in a good home.

I too want to thank LV. Its not everyday we get the chance to work on something with this many original parts. It was neat to see this car sitting beside the yellow one before the resto and then after.
Before I for get, "just bad Joe" shot the color. Guess it was a good thing his mom made me keep him instead of throwin him back. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
He forgot to mention the body work and the decal install. He tends to be easily distacted. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

I was fortunate enough to see this FG Deuce the day before it was picked up at Schonye's. I delivered Alan Forman's lastest restoration project, a FG 70 L78 Nova to Schonye Jan 12 in a freezing rain storm.
Now I know what ABS brakes are really for. Real fun pulling a trailer on ice. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif
Great job on the Deuce Schonye.

Schonye, Everything was melted from southern Illinois down to St. Louis. Lots of ice in central Illinois. Like an Ice Forest down I-74. Had a nice time at your place. Looks like all that cold weather followed me home. Got home Friday Jan 19th. Had to wait for clear weather in St Louie.

Just want to say that the talent in the Schoenthaler family isn't confined to the men. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
The First Lady of Donahue has a few tricks up her sleeve as well! We're now the proud owners of an original piece signed by Becky and will display it annually (that is, if I can keep my daughter away from it!)
A hearfelt Thank You to Becky and Ken for the thoughtfullness, but more importantly, for the friendship. There's some mighty fine people in that household. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worship.gif

Whew, glad to here that it got there in one piece. When you said that the last 3 things that showed up at your house from the USPS were in bad shape, the first lady about had a heart attack. Late merry Christmas.
