At least you can ship the car UPS oversize for about 73.00 and save a few dollars http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Be VERY careful on this one. I bought a very similar item, was supposed to be a L78 convert, firewall, TTag, Orig Block.
What I got was a very good fake trim tag, a restamped motor, a FAKE VIN TAG and a fake piece of metal with a FAKE convin stamped. Not the whole firewall that was pictured in the ebay ad.
After some investiagtion, this guy has at least two ebay ID's and shows north Mississippi on one, and south Tennessee on the other. Arkansas is a little close to those and this is his M.0.!
Heed the advice that I did not take!

OK,
Definately him. I just tried to bid on the auction, and got this:
"Transaction Blocked Unfortunately, this seller has decided that you are not permitted to bid on their listings. You may contact the seller via the Ask Seller Questions feature if you want additional details.
Please note: You may not use other eBay accounts to bid on this seller's listings. Doing so may result in your indefinite suspension from eBay. "
What a scumbag! Three ebay ID's in three different states!

Lynn,
I'd help (press charges, travel up there for court). I know that the chance of ever recovering any $$ is slim, even with a judgement. If you handle the legal end, and if one of the tag experts (Kurt, CRG, Jonsey?) are willing to testify, I'll go the whole way and foot my own expenses.
I chose not to sue him myself as I got 2,000 back, and 7,000 is not enough to sue over (after legal fees, and a judgement that I could prob. never collect on). If by some chance we won and we could collect, I'd be happy to pay whatever legal fees out of that judgement, up to the judgement total amount.
This would be worth my time just to shut this scumbag down!

The guy must have had a crystal ball to think to put a firewall into storage 29 years ago http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

What good is the car anyways with out paper work?? Chevelles dont have anything denoting a LS6 option or even an SS option, You could get some guy to stamp some motors find some rusty Malibu's and pull this scam off all day long if people are dumb enough to bid. That motor is worth alittle if it has legit parts and castings

Man this new ebay system sucks. You cannot even email the buyer and warn them. Someone's gonna get stuck real bad.

Is there anything on the trim tag or in the vin that would tell you it's a convertable?

How do you get "blocked" from bidding?
Is this because of a previous transaction with this seller?
Why hasnt the Ebay police picked up that this is NOT a car and actually an auto "PART" and is incorrectly listed.
Dont cars have wheels and doors and stuff like that?
This is not a car. Complain to Ebay!! Shut this guy down!!

When I got screwed by him, I went to bid Reeeeaaaall high on one of his auctions, just to leave feedback and tell everyone what a POS he is. Of course, he was slick to this already. He already had me banned as a bidder on all of his ebay names. Apparently, he has been doing this for some time. I used my wife's ID to bid then. Well, all I got for my trouble was my wife kicked off ebay for 30 days (Ebay's you may not use another id to bid when blocked rule), which would have been worth it, but
!!EBAY REMOVED THE NEGATIVE FEEDBACK!!!!
Now this joker still has 100% positive.

Glad I did (in my paperwork NOT actually in the registry) as this car is now a rolling body and getting ready for paint. I inspected it a few months ago and got to break the news to the buyer. It best not EVER get sold as an original bodied LS6 convert. Real firewall, tags and motor but now a rebody.

Rick, Which car are we talking about?
SS427

Not a car at all, just a firewall, VIN tag, cowl tag and engine sold on ebay around 2006. I believe it was the opening comment on this thread.

Keep in mind this thread and the ebay link were started in 2007 so what comes up currently are not what originally showed up from the original post.

This is the Tonawanda stamp on the car in question.
Lesson learned.
When an item like this comes up for sale, auction or whatever, we need to save the pics, post them here, then post whatever is available re: vin trim tag numbers etc.
Stuff only stays on ebay for so long. Rick may be precluded from sharing the above info with us because of client confidence issues. But.. had we saved all that info (and pics) on this thread back in 07, we would all know exactly what car he is discussing.

With just a cowl and tags being sold in '07 the old thread makes much more sense. Thanks for the clarification. Troy

Fortunately I printed out the ebay ad from 2007 and had it in my files. There is no mention of the VIN number in that ad but when I inspected the car something kept nagging at me so I went and looked through my files. Bingo.
Let me stress, it at one time was a complete and real car but now it is a rebody. It does NOT have fake VIN, cowl and engine stamps. If/when the car ever comes up for sale I was told it will NOT be sold as an original bodied LS6 and he will be forthright. If it is list as an original body, then things will change. There is no need for me to taint the waters if the car is ever sold for what it is so that is why I am not posting the VIN. Also, to some degree as Lynn stated, for client confidentiality.

The problem with this is how many buyers will it go through before it becomes an origianl body car?
