I have a 1969 Nova SS, it has been sitting in the garage pretty much since I purchased it about 8 years ago. The car when I purchased it has about 20k miles on it and is extremely clean. Long story short the color is hugger orange or something like it...it is a V8 BB car with original rear axle and the cowl tag paint code is MISSING?? Well technically it is listed as - -
Any advice on what this is would be helpful....the original motor and trans are gone with a 396/325 and 4-spd muncie there since I purchased it. I would like to see if anyone has a car with a cowl tag like this from GM in 1969??? Sorry if this is not the best place to post this. Thanks,
Shaun
Welcome.
That sounds typical of a special order paint car.
Hugger Orange and Monaco Orange were one in the same.
Do you have paper documents on it at all?
Cowl Tag info?
What is the two letter rear axle code & date stamped on the axle tube?

I will crawl under and get the axle codes. I am a little unfamiliar with special order paint codes. Why/who would've in 1969 ordered a special order color like this in a Nova SS BB car?

I dont' have any docs on it, but I haven't pulled out the back seat or the dropped the tank. When purchased the family I bought it from just needed to get it out of the expensive heated storage it was in. They didn't seem very interested in the history and said they really didn't have much....kind of a take it or leave it deal. I really haven't done much with it since and have decided to do something with it, I may even just sell it...but I really don't know exactly what it is?
Nearly any color was possible on any vehicle,if the salesman had the patience, and the customer paid him for it.That wasn't a recommended color in the 69 Nova line up,but that doesn't mean it wasn't possible. That is why the - - on the cowl tag,as it was against the standard color schemes for that particular vehicle.
Look for a broadcast sheet in the front & back seat springs, that also might shed more light on where/how your vehicle was ordered.

Knowing the rear axle info as Rick has mentioned would go good...also interesting to know what dealer this car was shipped to?http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif.

Ok, I think this will work...these are pics from our previous move. The car has the fenders and hood off so the motors paint and carb replacement could be done...sadly i haven't had time to put it back together since just before this photo when we used to take it out on the weekends. let me know if you can't get the pics to load.

I'm curious if you added the vinyl top. I would expect the trim tag to read - B if it had the top from the factory. -- if the car was solid Hugger top and bottom...BKH

I will wait a week and then list it locally if there is no interest here. Thanks,
