I really like seeing and reading about survivor/all original cars, and this week I got to see one in person, I work for an insurance company and I am in body shops all the time, I sitting and talking with the body techs on their break, all of them went back to work except this one older gentlemen, he in his early 60's and we started talking about the B-J auction, and he just out of no where says that he is the original owner of a 69 Z28, and it only had 13K miles on it, thought he was pulling my leg, so I told him that I would like to see it, and said lets go and I will show it to, we went to his house, and sure enough out in his 2-bay garage was a all original Glacier Blue w/black stripes, dark blue standard interior, X33, 69 Z28, the only options this car has is ZL2, and NC8 chambered exhaust, the only part not original to the car is the trans, he traded the original M21 for a M22 back in the day because that was the thing to have, but aside from that it was all there with all the original paperwork and protecto-plate,and he cranked just to prove to me that it does run, it was awesome to see, but unfortunately it is not sale.

They are out there. This is an L78 with 26K on it that my father bought new. He turned it into a drag car in 71', raced it with an L72 in Stock class until 81' and it has basically been covered and parked since. He kept everything except the transmission (sold it to get a Super T-10), tires, and exhaust. He has the original window sticker, loan papers, and because it arrived while he was still in Vietnam, pictures of my grandparents picking it up at the dealer for him. He got a letter from his dad asking why you buy a car that runs, steers, and looks like a John Deer tractor!
Long story short, after having the car this long, he doesn't have the cash/desire to put it back to stock, but could never sell it due to sentimental reasons. I started to give him the "it just isn't right to leave it sit" speech and one day he told me he always planned to give it to me anyway. It came with two stipulations - 1)I would never sell it while he is above ground and 2) I have to let him take it to some shows if I am not planning on taking it.

Dan,
Neat story and it doesn't get much better then that. That is pretty cool that your dad wants to give it to you. I trust you will do him proud. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flag.gif
Any chance you could post the picture of your grandparents picking the car up? What dealer did he get it from? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Way cool story, and a photo with the grand parents picking up the car at the dealer makes it a 3 Generation super car.

They are out there. While I was back in Minneapolis this past Thanksgiving, I went with my sister to visit my grandfather at the nursing home. In the front round drive, off to the side, there was a white '66 Dodge Charger parked. There was no snow in Minnesota at this point, but I thought it was pretty ballsy to have it out nonetheless. As we passed by, I glanced over to see if it had 383 emblems, and was stunned to see "426 Hemi" emblems. I looked inside at the black interior, which was very nice other than the accumulation of years of post it notes and receipts sprinkled around the dash and the automatic shifter console. When we left, I saw it backing up and went over and motioned for him to roll down his window. A gentleman about 60 years old obliged me and answered my questions. "A real Hemi car?" "yep" "How long have you had it?" "40 years" "I thought so, it had that original owner patina. I think its great that..(yada yada yada)" "thanks, see ya".
After he drove away, it finally occurred to me that I now actually have a camera in my phone. D'oh....
