Why does this car sound familiar? Wasn't an Orange/blk stripe resto project '69 Vette listed on Team Camaro a few months back? Is this car from south Jersey?

Looks same Corvette that was on Team Camaro http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif. This one was located near Dayton, NJ. If so, a friend met with a fellow , named Bob, who was selling it for the owner and looked it over pretty good. Vin # 194379S717xxx has Cure Ride shocks, center traction bar, dual Holley fuel pumps & probably has the original paint. No engine, trans or interior. No tank sticker, build sheet, badging or vintage pics. Didn't get to see the title either.
We were told (by Bob) that the person who actually owned it contacted Joel, but Joel would not verify that it was one of his cars, so we passed at $25K.
So, I guess the million dollar question, or in this case a $275K question, is 'what kind of factual documentation does Joel have on this particular car?' And, 'why wouldn't he verify it for the past owner?'
I realize that since I did not speak with the past owner directly about his conversation with Joel I'm sticking my neck out by posting this. But, I have yet to be convinced that Mr Rosen currently has any documentation, like work orders, on any of the recent cars he has verified. Hell, I'd feel better if he'd flown to the car's destination & visually inspected the car instead of (apparently) just looking at some pictures.

Wasn't it supposed to be a 435 hp car from the factory... if I remember correctly?

I thought that Joel provided paperwork or something when he verified cars... I would think that with an asking price of 275k this would be shown or at least mentioned? Not just a mentioning that the car has been verified by Joel. Also was the car delivered to Baldwin, sold then modified by Motion or was it delivered to Baldwin, modified by Motion then sold.. thus being a Day 1 Supercar? None of this is very clear...

I grew up around Dayton, NJ. It was a very rural area and all the car guys knew of each other and their cars. I never, ever ONCE heard of or saw this car in the area. Believe me, if that car had surfaced once, we all would have known about it.

What happened to the seller of this car? It was listed here 1 1/2 months ago and the owner hasn't been heard from since then.

There is a "supposed" 69 BM Vette around here. I say "supposed" because I dont really know anything about these cars, or specifics about the car in particular. The bodywork is more mild than this one, and has a ZL1 console plate.
I see the Headlites , Hood and the Flares and the gas cap but Phase III's had the fastback rear window and reversed side lovers and mustang side mirrors Just curious. Check larry's cars out to see on the past feature cars July 06.

"The yellow ZL-1 is in the hands of a Corvette collector by the name of Roger Judski of Roger's Corvette Centre in Orlando, Florida. He purchased the car in 1991 for $300,000 at a federal government auction. It had been restored in the 80s in Houston, Texas and then sold to a private party. The auctioning of the car was a result of a seizure from Richard Joseph Lynn who was convicted of dealing cocaine and sentenced to life in prison with no parole. Judski’s plan is to keep the car for life and he doesn't drive it. "
Wow!
I have some great internal original GM documents around here dealing on the Judski 1969 ZL-1 Corvette.
First is an October 69 Zone letter alerting ALL Dealers that the St.Louis plant has a used 1969 ZL-1 Corvette with 3000 miles for sale at company car discount.Call local zone if interested..
Also a nice interperspective series of letters issued after that Govt. seizure of the Yellow ZL-1 Corvette in the 1980's.It was brought to the attention of the Chevrolet higher ups and they were sending memos back & forth constantly to eachother about obtaining it for GM's Heritage Museum. They said it was an opportunity they couldn't afford to pass up so hire a well known Corvette expert to inspect it,fly him back with his report, and lets bring that SOB home!
Talks about how much they should bid at the auction. Also mentions seeking out any inhouse documents on that Corvette itself,if there are any.
Neat candid perspective on eachothers views and speculation on the cars future importance.
They ended up going way over their budget and still lost it.
Boy where they upset.. LOL
