Check out the size of the hole in the hood! The 'crew' certainly has a variety of hats! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The sticker type & placement is the same on my car.

Kim, this car was run in 1970 by John McFadden, maybe that is why the decal placement is the same. This is the ex-Leatherman body in white/rebody. I thought I heard this car still exists? Would be something to see it finished like this again.

Ken, This car is not the car you think it is. Johns car was bought from a junk yard with no front end and stripped out. Then it was taken to Dick Harrell and built. Glass front and paint at Dicks shop. Yes it was run the 70 season. Kim

Here is a picture of the car before lettering this was taken around Dec. or Nov of 69. The two men are Glenn Powell & James Z. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

Ha! you are technically illiterate like me - you took a picture of your screen http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif At least crop out the bottom row of the screen where I can see you have a porn session open. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

Wasn't this car a N.Y.C. street racer at one time? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif

My original posting of summer of '69 was incorrect. I rechecked the date on the slide - this was developed in June '70 and would have been taken shortly before that.
From what I remember this car had just been purchased by one of the guys wrenching on it and they were having a hell of a time getting a full pass out of it. They were out of Brooklyn and it used to make the show at 150th st and the Conduit by JFK.

That would have maybe been Brooklyn Heavy.

Kim, what became of the Leatherman car then? I know it was rolled on the track in 1969, I thought it became a customer car after being rebuilt with a different body unit? Is the Leatherman's car vin or production sequence known? I'll have to check Hooper's '69 reference book again, I thought I saw a copy of the inspection record in the section on documentation for their car. The owner is listed as DHPC?

I seem to remember there being a controversey about the Letherman car.Something about there being 2 of them out there?

Ken & Ken, I know nothing about Leathermans car. Only stories!! As they say, never let the truth get in the way of a good story. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

I thought this car was first a NY street racer and then a full time drag car. I don't remember Heavy with this car though. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

I thought Heavy was more of a Mopar man...and what was ever the result w/ his winged car on eBay last year?.

Here's a great site from the darker side of racing, no racial jokes intended...it's real..

I would say a Chevy man but got into Mopars a little later with Sox and Martin and Carmen Rotunda. He had many avenues. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif

Dog427435, would you happen to know if Super John happens to be one of the fellows in the photo? I've been looking for a photo of him for ages...

Sorry - don't know the names of anyone - all I can tell you is it was taken at West Hampton around June '70 and from what I remember this car had just been purchased by one of the guys wrenching on it. They were having a hell of a time getting a full pass out of it, running it out to about 700 feet - it was an animal! They were out of Brooklyn and it used to make the show at 150th st and the Conduit by JFK.
