I'm going to look at a documented Sunflower Yellow 67 Corvette local car. Supposedly a "survivor" for whatever that's worth, 2nd owner car with original paint, 327/300hp 4spd, black interior, power windows, A/C, Bill of Sale, Tank Sticker, supposedly a lot more paperwork too, hard and soft tops. Claims it is all original except for the gas tank, original numbers matching engine, trans, rear end. He is asking $185K. I will take pictures and if anyone is interested in the car give me a call at 850-543-0221. I know Chevelles and Camaros, NOT a Corvette expert. I may not be able to answer the next few hours because I am flying but should be available this afternoon.

Dave,
-----This Corvette as you described it would have to have about $100000 in the glove compartment for it to be worth that kind of coin!!!..........Bill S

Bill,
I know it's not worth that kind of money, they must be fishin. I have the rest of the day off and not many cars pop up around here so thought I would take a look. I will take some pics and if someone is interested they can make an offer. I am not asking for anything out of it just offering it up to any interested parties.

It sounds like a twin to one of my barn find Vettes only mine was a coupe. I think I sold it for 30-35K and today it is worth probably 40-45K

I'd be interested in the small block, 4 spd, air car, but how do you negotiate down that far. Eventualy the owner may may come to his senses but I sure don't want to be the first one to tell him. He's going to think your trying to steal the car and he knows what he's got!
Watched one to many aution telecast IMO.

Guys,
I looked at the car today, will post pics asap. Real Survivor in the truest sense of the word, low mileage, 26013, highly documented, original bill of sale, GMAC paperwork, tank sticker, GM letter of congratulations to the new corvette owner, and more, original owner till 2005, Harry Mann Chevy licence plate brackets, black CA plates, paint was "scuffed, sprayed and polished" in 94. I take that as wet sanded and clear coated? Paint has a few touched up chips on the nose and one on the pass side. Owner has the original tires, original battery, hard top. Only work done to the car supposedly was the paint work, stainless brakes in 81, gas tank in 97, front end work in 69 and 97. Still has chalk marks and paper stickers in various locations.
Trim tag reads 67 467 S3521

Nice piece if someone is looking for a small block 4spd 67 vette.
I will be working on the pics now.

Here are some docs... That's all folks.... Can some of you Corvette experts let me know what this car is really worth, I think I know about as much as the owner about what it's value is. Just trying to learn and if anyone is interested I will hook them up. It is a nice car, if that is what you are looking for.

If it's been "scuffed sprayed and polished" it is not a survivor, only a nice original car with a repaint. Try to explain to the guy he has been paying way too much for the rest of the cars in his stable and sorry, but he needs to realize that you dont add the values of all ten of his cars together to find a total price and then divide by ten to find your selling price of one of them. It's a 40 to 60K car with nice documentation, nothing more.

I agree it is not a "survivor" due to the paint work. Had that not been done it would have qualified. The guy claims he really doesn't know what it's worth. I don't as I am no Corvette expert, but I want to learn more in case I do stumble across a deal someday. I believe the guy will take a reasonable offer because he must have a general idea of what it is worth. Especially since he picked it up at an estate sale only two years ago. I am just trying to determine what it's really worth, calling all Corvette experts. So far I'm hearing around $50K. If nothing else I might make him a low ball offer, you never know....

Realistically... you have to look at it from a driving stand point. Its a killer driver. Bottom of the car is dirty, paint is not great, interior has its minor flaws and engine compartment has been fluffed. The best thing about this car is that there is no hesitation to drive it. With a convertible to boot, what is going to stop you? The other plus is the colors, 4spd and paperwork. A smogged up 300hp is no L-71 435hp beast, but its enough power to have fun. I would say leave it up as is, or maybe clean the engine compartment, maybe not. Drive it. When you're bored, sell it. You cannot go wrong with a mid-year Vette, especially a '67 convertible. I've seen frame off restored '67 300hp convertibles with Duntov awards for $150,000+. Drivers at low end are around $35,000. This car will sell all day long at $45-$50k+.
I hope I did not bore anyone... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif good luck http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

------Let me say first that this is a very nice 67. Absolutely love the paperwork. Coming from Harry Mann, Im surprised that it doesnt have the six-tail-light dealer option. With that out of the way, it has been selectively detailed under the hood along with the paintwork discussed. Exhaust that I can see is aluminized. Still, with all the current mania I believe I could sell that car for around the $85,000 figure I already mentioned. Does that mean I would pay that??? NO, but I would pay more than the $45,000 mentioned with out even going to see it first.........Bill S

A painted stamp pad? That will cost you all 88 points!
The car can still Survivor with a repaint, I've owned two completely repainted Corvettes that have received the Bloomington Survivor award. You need to qualify in three of the four areas (body, interior, engine, chassis) to achieve Survivor, so the remiander of the car needs to be original. A car can not Benchmark unless it achieves Survivor in all four areas and achieves Bloomington Gold all in the same weekend. The car most likely could not Benchmark.
It could also receive three of four Bow Tie Stars with a repaint. Still a nice achievement for a car. I'm looking at a twin to this car, black plate and all, in silver and a coupe for $40,000. It's on the West Coast. It's important with a California car to have all the smog equipment there, it's expensive and you can't justify it for a small block. I say $50,000, or a bit more. With the right owner, some TLC and some Top Flight ribbons, the value could rise into the 70's.

It sounds like the car isn't worth 6 figures YET...wait another few years and it could be. Great condition and documentation...it's just not a big block and therefore cannot command top top dollar. Not that I wouldn't want that beauty in my garage...but the check would start with a "5" or a "6", that's all.

Guys thanks for all the input. I offered the owner 45K, he claimed he had already turned down 71 and 77K, I figure that's BS. I appeciate all the opinions, fone calls and advice. Hi Bill
Funny you should mention the 6 taillight add on from Harry Mann. They called it the Califonia Special treatment. Here is original Harry Mann car I found. Harry Mann Chevrolet actually took the cup from an nos rear panel and used it for the extra lights. This car was Silver and will be going back to Silver, with the 6 lights. Oh yeah it has that other option too, fuel injection.

I know someone who bought a very low mile original 327/300 last year for money close to that one. It has a ton of nice paper, and is a rare color option that has never been touched since coming out of the original owners collection. I know what it was bought for, and a rare cars net worth is whatever someone is willing to pay.
Nice car you have there.

-----The Corvette collector world is a strange place as you probably know. As nice as this 67 is, its a 300hp base engine. For the big check a 300hp generally needs AC to carry it upward. A 350hp or any of the optional engine packages can usually exist in the higher climate on thier own merits. Then the AC, if present, just adds the frosting!

Doesnt seem to be a Air cond car Phil
That beautiful blue with blue/white interior 1965 Corvette roadster with 21,000 miles and a 365 horse motor sold at Bloomington for about 160K to 170K last summer and it was an amazing car with good options. That is getting into uncharted waters, even on a nice car like that. It was certainly one of the best original Corvettes I've ever seen. I believe it bit to 170K with a no sale a few weeks ago at Mecum. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Tim, I think we can agree that unrestored cars are not for everyone. A few year back at the judging convention in TX there was a stunning blue/blue '66 L72 convertible that many believe is one of, if not the best unrestored L72 in the country. Its been for sale for months now at $375,000. It is going to take a very serious buyer who understands the glory of an unrestored car to bring it home. I let my '66 350hp unrestored, original owner car go for mid $60k's and I'm kicking myself for letting it go. But again, it took a serious buyer to understand the nature of the beast. I personally love unrestored cars but many, many guys perfer the show-shine of a restored car. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif
Yes, I know the car and owner well. I had the honor of judging the interior of that L72 at that Regional event. I hammered the owner with a whopping deduct of about three points, if I remember. That car was in the Special Collction last June.
