Now here's a car that one or two fellas ought to know a thing or two about. Standby for some constructive feedback (and pass the popcorn)!! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I couldn't help to notice the car sitting high. Does it have BBC springs or 70 series tires? Neat car, saw it on ebay this morning... Good luck!

Man, that upper radiator hose is barely hangin' on, if at all:

http://images.andale.com/f2/115/105/7901652/2007/2/16/717.JPG

If you were wondering what that clunking sound was in the trunk:

http://images.andale.com/f2/115/105/7901652/2007/2/16/728.JPG

Hopefully the 'Camaro emblem' is dangling on a single post, otherwise this is a sober reminder that 'measure' should always come before the 'drill' part:

http://images.andale.com/f2/115/105/7901652/2007/2/16/701.JPG

Still like the car. Killer color combination.

Thanks Joey. I met ole red alert on an airplane on the way to scottsdale a few years ago. Surprised at his negative comment. Oh well I guess I could have a few negatives about ol red also. I think this is an honest no excuse car otherwise I wouldnt own it..Especially wouldnt put it on this site where all the pro's are in tune!

Bob..For a no excuse car it has the wrong color grill, wrong leaf springs, rattle can black brake booster, inside out cowl induction seal, sits like a 4 wheel drive and there are close up pics of the trim tag, carb and seat belt tag but no pic of the engine pad stamping. Decent car but calling it a no excuses car is a bit of a stretch.

Speaking as as one who has worked for dealerships, and had his fill of nitpicking by gawkers, I don't really find much here that's mean spirited. I'd just look at it as a free to-do list to help you get the most from your otherwise-nice Z. I think constructive criticism is just a price we pay for the adventageous ad rates here on the SYC board. And if I may be so bold as to add to that list, I'd respray the grille argent, too. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

-------Bob,,, In no way was that comment meant to be negative. Im sorry you took it that way. If you look under the post on the Hugger Orange L89 convert for sale, I asked weather the lack of black paint on the rockers of a high trim option (like X33) was correct. I really wasnt sure. I was trying to see if this Z should be black there also as I am restoring one right now. So what negative thoughts are you harboring???........Bill S

Hmmmm...I know I had a guilty conscience after buying Budnate's T/A via the ads, so I rechecked my Paypal account and verified my small but real transfer to Tom Clary @ sYc on Jan 30th. I'll PM Tom C. and see if that was enough to get my five stars. If so, you oughta start dusting off that NOS argent grille.....

I've never met you Bob but I like the way you handle yourself. You seem to have something we all could use.....a thick skin and a lack of whining. You didn't quit and take your ball home but hung around for some constructive (at least so far)criticism.

Now, Go get us some more pledges! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif

I also notice that there is no front spoiler. I'm not critisizing here, I'm just wondering if front and rear spoilers were seperate options on a 69, or was there one RPO option code that gave you both if ordered?

The D80 option received the front and rear spoilers. If this car was built in May or after, spoilers would be standard.

It is a sharp car. Just understand that many of us here are pretty picky. Quality of finishes and workmanship are entirely separate from "correctness". From just the one photo above I see that it looks nice under the hood, but there are quite a few details that could be corrected pretty easily: line adapters on the carb lines, neg batt cable wrong and connected wrong, alt wire loom routed wrong, PCV hose clip missing, etc. That kind of stuff can make a difference on the money. Good luck.

We all love critiquing someone elses cars, don't we Charley. I myself looked over a Rally Green 69 Z/28 that was sold into Alberta from California a few years ago and found a few things with that one. Even more when I witnessed that "original" engine and "transmission" being torn down. But I guess I won't ignite that flame since that former seller did not load pictures of it here for me to hammer away at.

I wonder if I should look for the pictures of that car since I know I have them here? I guess if someone else coincidentally acquires those pictures and posts them here on SYC, I can flame away at that car regardless of who owned it and how they represented that car and it's sale right Charley?

Just curious about that one since no seller is perfect, and neither are many of these "no excuse" types of cars. Don't forget Charley, not every seller or builder has a thousand point benchmark car sitting in a stable of collector items like we do, and what many would consider a no excuse car to them (and thousands of others) might not be a no excuse car to either of us.

I guess it just pisses me off that each and every time i'm looking at something on this site, there's always someone flaming a seller, a car, an ad, or in this case, just a seller that used the words "No Excuse Car" in an ad. I guess that's what ignites a flame now days, is when someone describes and ad with a few verbs to help attract the buying public. Laughing my ass off at this one! Although not perfect, a nice car Bob. Good luck with the sale of it, and yes,it's nice to see you have thicker skin than some on here. You're OK with me.

Tom...

mister-copo...just what are you trying to say ? Are you referring to a Rally green Z I had a few years ago that I sold in primer ?

I have no idea what you own but I have no "no excuse" cars and I certainly have no 1000 point benchmark cars.
Why does Supersports Z28 have a electric fan in addition to the stock fan ? Cooling problem ? I would like to know the excuse. Oh wait...It's a no excuse car.

Charley Lillard

And his "no excuses" comment I was referring to was in this thread, not his ad so I don't see it as just auction ad fluff.

Charley I have over 30 ASE certified mechanics at my disposal so dont you think if the car had a problem it would be fixed? Please go pick on another car. There is not much at all to pick on this one about!

OK, I cleared up my membership hiccup with the Clary clan (thanks Tom and Rob) so I'm five stars all the way. Any smack I've talking since Jan 30th can now be considered "legitimate".

Please send one of those many SAE mechanics to find that NOS argent grille.... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

Is it being an @$$ hole to think that one of the camaro emblems wouldn't be even close to strait on a 60k car?....or the radiator hose doesn't fit?
I'm no expert, but would a 69 Z... have a 6000 redline tach?

It's a damn nice car..but to be the car that it's stated to be....it needs a little more work!

Thanks for all the publicity as It may have found a buyer who is not afraid to straighten an emblem and tighten a radiator hose if needed.

Nobody is saying do not advertise here as we have had pieces of junk sucessfully sold on this site. We are just saying be accurate in your description of a car when advertising. Talking up a less than perfect car will hurt a sale on this site.

Nice car by the way. I especially like the caulking in the rivets holding the trim tag.......

PPG 8568
Dupont 42153
I used the PPG 8568 on the last car I did, and liked the way it looked. Icould not get it mixed in Lacquer , seems PPG dropped the formula for it.
I used Acrylic Enamal, it was fine. You can also get this mixed in the OMNI line too.

As far as the Garnett Red Z in this thread, if it were mine, it would go stright to the rotiserie for the Love it needs !
