I'm sure some of you have seen how well these cars run at the Pure Stock drags especially the "Stude Tomato" that runs 12.99 on bias plys. I was in the beginnings of building my own version but life has gotten in the way:
63 Lark 2dr sedan. Solid car. Apart. Was 6 cyl/auto, have good running Stude 259 4bbl (newer Edelbrock 4bbl) and Rebuilt T10 4 speed. Also have many parts for 4 speed conversion: pedals, bellhousing, linkage, NOS floor hump.
Needs some front fender work (have better drivers fender to go with car-it needs minor rust repair at rear edge), doors excellent, trunk excellent (also have NOS trunklid) NOS rear bumper. Solid trunk. Front floors have been repaired years ago (brazed) Has two small holes to be repaired. Cowl solid. Frame will clean up with wire wheel. Car sold new in Pa. Have copy of production order. Have later flanged axle Dana 44 rear end (I believe it is twin traction however I haven't pulled the cover off to inspect-both wheels turn in same direction when one wheel turned)
Good glass. These cars have BOLT ON rear fenders (which are solid) Easy to work on, parts are extremely easy to get (there's still a LOT of NOS out there). I have some rarer NOS parts to go with car:
NOS doggie dish hubcaps
tail light lenses
backup light lenses
NOS front and rear seat covers in red
NOS door panels in red
NOS rear trim panels
Everything else for interior is available from numerous Studebaker vendors.
NOS grille surround
NOS headlight trim rings
NOS grille emblem
NOS bumper guards
NOS (actually pre-production prototype) speedo and guage cluster
plus lots more.
These cars are full frame and light weight (2800lbs)
The Stude V8's are extremely tough and can handle LOTS of HP: steel crank, solid lifters, gear driven camshaft, high nickel content block etc. I planned on building a 289 R2 motor and was going to run the 259 in the meantime.
Perfect for building your own Pure Stock Terror. My plans were to paint her black with the NOS red interior and run the doggie dish hubcaps. Apparently the Hurst shifter for a 55-7 Chevy with bench seat will work with this 4 speed setup.
Would also look SWEET as a straight axle gasser or SuperStock replica!
DARE TO BE DIFFERENT!
$3900 U.S firm. Will not separate parts.
Clear title in my name-I am located in Ingersoll, Ontario about 90 minutes from Michigan or New York state.Importing to the U.S will be easy.
See a TON of pics here including a few shots of finished 63 for ideas:
