View Full Version : Jim Mattison-#1 Team License Frame
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v669/Rick_Peters/8mattison0002.jpg
This is an Authentic #1 Team License plate frame.
It was personally issued to Jim Mattison of COPO fame in 1967 and was installed it on his personal courtesy vehicles during the 1968-72 model years. It became a way of discreteley identifying key Chevrolet personel and the vehicle they were driving back then.
Jim kept it for decades afterwards and it was lastly displayed on his silver COPO 427 Camaro before he sold it.
This was the only one he received.
This frame is 40 years old & lightly used with no unsightly damage. It is embossed CHEVROLET-BAY CITY (MICHIGAN),where it was manufactured in limited quanities and then distributed to key Chevrolet employees. It does have light fading in the blue border and a few light pimples, but no flaking or rust what so ever of the plating. It is still intact with the two top rear tongue tabs and no modifications what so ever. The bolt holes are clean and show some graining which appear to be from the pot metal beneath, not from useage..The entire frame is true.
It comes with the Original 8X10 letter of authentication and explanation of it's heritage, signed and dated by Jim Mattison himself.
I will not publically post a picture of this letter,do to the personal information shown on it,as well as possible future forgeries gleaned form it.I assure you it's self explanatory and you will not be dissapointed with it.

I would not have thought there would have been one let alone two of these left in existance. This is one special item we are talking about beyond rare especially with the documentation which is critical since there was some cheap repos around for a short period of time.
This one is the real deal for sure and belongs in a special GM collection

You're right Steve, I got one in Carlisle last fall, and have seen them on cars at several shows I've been to. Not sure how many they made, but there seems to be more than a couple out there. Oh, I almost forgot this one:

I guess when you live in a area that has several GM plants and thousands of salary workers nothing is too tough to find...It's all reletive...

I have a used/driver set of 2 and an NOS in the box set of 2.
They're not impossible to find but mint ones take some serious time and money...
Good luck with the sale Rick... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beers.gif
