No one has to buy an engagement ring... we either want to or are being pressured to...
That being said, I would gladly sell some of my muscle car parts to buy a ring for my Girlfriend if I needed the cash.
They can be replaced... she can't.

I would gladly sell my wife's clothes and jewelry to buy car parts if I thought I could get away with it.
Regards,
Mark

It's not the ring that is irreplaceable... it's the girl who understands the addiction to automobiles http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

Cost me an original 66 l-72 4spd biscayne right to the dog dish hub caps. Wife however could power shift that thing better than I could. Six years later that ring gave me a daughter which is priceless.

Your story is the best Mac!.

Here I only had to sell off most of my stuff to pay legals, survive and feed the kids when the spit up went down...hope nobody here had the bookend effect with it happening on both ends?.

Good luck John!.

I would just like to jump in here as the lucky girl who will be getting said ring!! I am the luckiest girl ever because he understands MY addiction to cars- John has had to make room in HIS garage for the parts to my "weird little (non-watercooled Chevy) cars" in rainbow colors, including a panther pink Volkswagen he has been stuck driving [and fixing, tweaking, and hot-rodding] more than a few times, purple (soon to be turbo'd)Corvair and quite possibly the best engagement presents ever, the '68 Dart & 440 engine, which were followed by the Valentine's Day 8 3/4 rear, and maybe a Christmas 4 speed if I'm REALLY lucky & he's got any money left after the ring http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif Yep, so you should feel sorry for him and bid up his stuff [so I can get a nice ring and] because poor Johnny's gonna be stuck rebuilding A-833's til death do us part http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

Thank you to all who have posted their story and input Lauren and I have enjoyed reading them ..Looks like my X-Mas shopping is done (Anyone have a A-833 for her Dart ?LOL)

Quick History she and i meet at a SCCA racing event wear we were both racing ...(My old Rabbit GTI is what got us talking )See link for pictures http://www.cardomain.com/ride/457001/3
Poor me she wakes me up early to go racing, swapmeets,Junkyarding it's tuff ..

The parts are stuff i will not need anytime soon .(With her cars and my latest project car a 1957 Chevy Bel Air factory black 245hp 2x4 car.)

I like to see the parts on the right cars instead of on a shelf ..

Thanks Again

Thanks Pete. She may have got the l-72 but not my parts or the two chevelles or the 66 impala.Problem is she knows exactly what a m22 looks like and what they are worth. So I cannot leave.

Some real nice items John has for sale that pump and alt sould cover the ring no problem.

LOL....She only lets me drive th Pink VW when it needs tunning...We will be at the Grove for the swapmeet but only making out in my truck (To Dam cold outside http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The Pink VW 5 door Golf is a killer Sleeper .It's under 2k lbs with driver and the motor I built for it was dyno at 167 HP at the wheels stock was 85 HP .(no turbo or NOS )

On a short Auto X course it runs about 2-3 seconds faster then c6 Vette and BMW guy's ..I love seeing their face after getting beat by a Girl in a Pink 1986 VW Golf on street tires. All for under $1500 including the car.. Plus it makes her happy .

I am a Lucky Guy ..Plus I won't have to trade her in for a newer model ...LOL .Since she only 23 and i am 33 so i am very lucky.
