Is there a template anywhere for the placement of the "Camaro" and "SS" emblems? I think mine are in the wrong spot and want to double check before I put the stripe on. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure the Assembly Manual has fairly detailed measurements for the proper placement of the emblems.

The book can get you pretty close....I never really trusted it though...I found a few orig paint SS cars for the stripe dimensions and used ref locations off of those for the "Camaro" script..Same with the 327 numbers...Be sure the stripes are correct..most are terrible.

They sell a complete milar stripe and emblem Kit at your local clasic car store. The side marker emblem is in the kit.

I was going to buy a stencil kit from Phoenix Graphix for the stripe. Does anyone have a good shot of the emblems in the right spot?

Here is a restored 68....Not a terrible stripe job by any means....just a little fatter...Notice the SS sits a bit higher in the stripe. Also the stripe leads out of the wheel opening a bit closer to the edge..427 is a tad high as well..

That is a tough stripe (later version of the 68 SS stripe) to get correct and many are done very poorly. I think Stencils and Stripes has recently redone their stripe kit for the 68 stripe. If I was to buy from them I would buy it directly from Stencils and Stripes to make sure you get the latest thing. If you buy it from the usual Camaro suppliers you may get stuck with an older version of the kit that has been hanging around. Also, I don't know if someone makes a better kit than stencils and stripes.

Thanks for the pictures. On the red unrestored one, where is the body line in reference to the stripe? I can't make it out in the picture.
Thanks again, Scott

Yep,the Red car is Buds....The center of the stripe is on the body line.I used the decals from Stencils and Stripes. My painter threw away the stencil. He used the sticker from the door forward to hold the correct thicknees on the stripe. From the front wheel forward it's all paint. The brakes in the stripe start about a inch from the wheel lips. The front band was a simple layout with "tight" 90's...The hardest part is centering the numbers in the band..Here's mine..

I appreciate all your help. This is how I am reading the stripe/badge placement on the rear of the fender. I just want to clarify that this sounds right. Place the center of the stripe on the bodyline, the "SS" badge goes below the stripe and the "Camaro" just above. Do the badges actually touch the stripe or small gap? I can use the measurements given to place the rest of the stripe. How does everyone feel about decal versus paint? I'm up in the air on that, the decal would definitely be easier. However, I need to repair holes from where the badges are now and repaint the fenders. I think I read somewhere that the stripes were half paint and half decal, is that true?

I just checked the Stencils and Stripes website. I am going to order their kit. Front section is painted, rear section and doors are decals.

Also notice the "C" in Camaro loops down into the stripe...Yes,the correct way is with paint and decal and the SS is below the stripe.

Steve, Thanks for all your help, it is greatly appreciated. One last question and I should be all set. Placement from front to back, is there a measurement for that? They appear to be centered between the door jamb and the fenderwell, but again, want to make sure.
Thanks, Scott

Thanks, I've been looking on ebay for one. I've seen at least 3 different styles, different covers, bound or for 3 ring binder. Do you know if they are the all the same inside?

Yeah,I think there all the same, just depends on who is printing them or selling them....I got mine 20 + yr. ago.....no binder just loose leaf copies...Put them in plastic and stick em in a binder...keeps the grease off. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
