Its amazing the dog is still standing on its own feet. I'm surprised he did not go into shock after the run in happened... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

i would hate to see the inside of his mouth, i dont think the dog could live through this, alot of the stickers will work there way through the roof of his mouth into his brain and eyes.

I used to raise horses, and a calf or two, feral dogs have a big appetite for newborn livestock, so I've shot my share of wild dogs. Several times I'd get off a clean shot to the head, and have to shoot again to drop the animal. I mentioned this in passing, to a neighboring livestock breeder, it was then that I learned to shoot for the base of the skull where the brain is. That poor pup may be sore, but I bet he's nowhere near dead. I would guess that porcypine is in real bad shape too.

My guess is he never tasted that porky---he lunged and clamped down on quills---We've found dead bears emaciated from hunger after an attempt on a porky.even wessels---Also found porkys flipped and eaten---MT. Lion with smarts.......The barbs and infection and eyesight is the worry....

I always thought the porcupine was a lamb type animal and
fairly ripe for any predator. Guess I was wrong. So were the
pit bulls, bears, weasels, etc. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
My pup did the samething one time with a similar outcome, only it was with a Skunk and not a porcupine.
Did I say one time..

Here in michigan the DNR introduced an animal in the upper peninsula called a fisher, it loves to eat porcupines, the fisher is very nimble and manages to get the porcupine on its back and kills it. you know when you see a porky kill, all there is left is the head and skin on its back with all the quills intact, they planted them here to controll the porky population, (only thing is now we have a fisher problem) they breed like rabbits, i quess thats how the DNR works, now we have to find something to eat the fishers???

Yea didn't they do something like that in Hawaii also...
They introduced Kudzu around here to control erosion... I know that if you throw some concrete blocks on it and spray it with Round up it grows better... http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/haha.gif

Sometimes I wonder about the DNR. Up here they said we had too many rabbits and they were eating the small trees effecting the pulp industry. Although they will not admit it now they introduced the coyote to take care of the rabbits. Well the first ones were about 45 pounds 10 years later they are running 75 -80.We have no more rabbits, deer population probally 10% of what it was and hard as hell on house cats and family dogs. I am in the middle of town and we have a pack behind the house yapping every night.

When will man understand and realize that nature does, or does not allow for certain species in specific areas for a
good reason. How many times have the so called "experts" introduced new specias to a new habitat and then we live to
regret the decision. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif Ever hear of KILLER BEES! http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif

Maybe that porcypine is alright after all, I would think a bear's bite would be at least equal to a pit bull's bite. Didn't Styx have a song about that thing in the back of the dog's head? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
