I just had to share what I found in Colorod nr 8 1981 with you:
The black Omega Oil sponsored Monza was ordered by Mr Gasket Company from Don Ness Race Craft in 1978 as one of two identical cars. It was to be driven by Rickey Smith but was only used as a back-up car to its twin. It was later bought by Joe Anderson who used it as a pro-stocker and as a "gasser". After that the swedish guys Westerfors and Rodeblad brought the car to Sweden.
The yellow "Skip"-Monza is a former Bill Jenkins car built by SRD in 1977. It has the special Jenkins 3-link rear suspension, it says in the article. Jenkins promized Sven Andersson 8-second runs with the car, and so it did !
Sven got a Jenkins-built 381 cui engine (400 block/350 crank) with the car, that among other things had a special General Kinetics cam in it.

Hey Anders thanks for the pictures. Looks like an official Grump Lump on the Monza. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/3gears.gif

I worked on both of those cars. The Black Monza was painted silver and blue the year after and fitted with a 351 Cleveland and a 4-speed Lenco and I built the headers for it. When it was black it had a 5-speed Doug Nash box.

The Jenkins car later got a 500 cu in motor from Pat Musi and I built the headers for that combo. It was really difficult because it was limited space for them. If I remember right they ran high 7s with the 500 cu in.

Both cars are still around here in Scandinavia as far as I know. It would be cool to restore the Jenkins car.
