The fact that its doesn't have the mounting bolts from the frant plate was a dead givaway...

It is a shame there is dishonesty within the e-bay community!! Sometimes I really wonder about these sellers that keep the bidding list private. You can't tell me that some of these sellers are not having buddies bid this crap up and then some poor sucker comes along and pays the piper for something that he thinks is the real deal!! What a shame!!

Not doubting your assessment, but is it possible that there are two different designs of these, both GM versions? Both varieties have the same GM number molded into the backside http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

I have never seen it any other way... The last picture shows the woodgrain piece as you would get it NOS from the dealer and that one still has the tag on it as well...

funny.... his ad says "NOTHING LIKE GM ORIG PARTS'
does that mean it is nothing like GM original parts? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Ive been looking for a real Woodgrain Radio Delete since I bought my car in '96. So far I have only come accross 2. One deal fell through and the other one I was outbid on, on E-Bay. I have seen just the metal Woodgrain piece, but it had some defects that I just could not live with. Too bad all those parts ended up in the trash all those years ago.

My money is on that there are two versions-- Who is going to manufacture that part? Do you have any idea how much it costs to have a part built, especially when there is stamping involved? It's quite expensive, and I'm thinking you'd never be able to sell enough to even recover the tooling and mfg. costs.
Because GM had to supply aftermarket parts by law, that is what you see. They changed the back mold for something else, or so that it fits multiple-applications.
Don't get me wrong-- Even paying $361 for that, at NOS-in-the-box and without question, seems a bit crazy.

How about $ 585.00 for an incorrect NOS DX Tire Pressure sticker! Ebay # 300099084632. I don't think the buyer would be too happy if he compared it to an original.

Soemone is repopping them. I've heard stories, but can't confirm them. Delete plates used to be really scarce, then all of a sudden, they are popping up in mint shape all over the place. I haven't seen any of the repops and the used standard one has been in my car for 9 years, so I forgot what the back actually looks like.

I cannot tell you how much "nos" parts I have seen on restored cars that are not even close to the original. NOS and original as "factory installed" are very often two different things...BKH
I will take 2 please http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif
There are so many parts listed on ebay as NOS , when they are reproduction parts . Just take a quick look . Just because the box says "GM restorations parts" doesn't mean it's NOS .
