Stumbled across this (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevrolet-Chevelle-1970-Chevelle-SS-LS6-Body-Solid-Project-454-Car_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6164QQihZ020QQitemZ 300102178581QQrdZ1) while perusing eBay, don't know the seller nor anything about the car, just passing it along.

09A build car (too early to be an LS6, correct?) with a 6500 redline tach in the dash.

09A would be considered early for even an L78 I think.

The L78 was a carryover from the 69 model year. Why would it have not been produced right from the start of 70 model year production?

Note the hole below the tach, directly through the lettering for the wiper switch. These holes are factory-drilled on Monte Carlo dashes. So, the dash housing is not the original, and my guess is that the cluster and tach are also not the original.

I think they were on constraint due to the phase out.I have never seen an Aug built L78 Chevelle, but my frame of reference is narrower than most on here.I know the last one was built 12/8,and have seen references made to a few sept built cars as "early"

I like the part about having to take the body of the frame to change the fuel line http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif it would be great if someone just listed a car for sale without all the nonsense...wishful thinking http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hmmm.gif

I had two 72 Monte Carlos, they never had that hole drilled into the dash. What would it have beed used for ??

The Monte Carlos woodgrain metal dash inserts were held on with adhesive on some,or had holes drilled into certain areas of the dash to allow a metal tab to protrude through them and secure it.
This particular dash is not authentic for this early built Leeds 1970 Super Sport Chevelle.
The 1970 L-78 Chevelle was only produced roughly the first 100 days of production, before being discontinued completely. There are August/Sept.assembled examples still surviving, and some still by their original owners today.
Based on all the information & pictures the seller has relayed, this particular Chevelle is NOT one of them.At the very most it is an L-34 402/350HP Super Sport Chevelle only.
