I've known about this car for a few years, the guy selling it is the guy I bought my two 70 L34's from. It's got a running 396 out of a motorhome in it, and the numbers 427 block in the trunk . the 427 looks like it was drug home behind the car from the dragstrip, it's pretty banged up. It doesn't have the original heads/intake/carb. I don't know if the trans is original or not. It's gonna need a couple of fenders, the rest of the car seemed solid. Anyway I just mentioned the car a few days ago in a differant thread, so it's interesting that the seller has now finally listed it for sale. I think it's the 390/400 hp motor not the 425/430.
Is this to good of a price to pass up?

Hi Eric:
Docs are the key with the 69SS427 impala as with any car I guess. They are by far one of the easiest cars to clone. Hard to really tell from the few pictures what she is truely like but from what you can see it looks like a expensive venture with little chance of recovering your investment.NOS parts for the big chevs are way over priced when you can find them.

It has an old imishions sticker on the rad. support that says 427/400HP. I'm confident it's a real 427 car, If it were cloned it would have been done a long time ago, cause it's been sitting for a while. The 396 was put in it only so they can move it around the yard.

Hi Eric:
I am not saying it is a clone just that with a 69Ss427 you will want paper proof it is real before spending any real money on it.

I remember this car. It was posted for sale a few years ago on the ImpalaSS427.com site. I got all the numbers from the car from the owner. It has the original LH block and is an original red car, built at Janesville.

Here is one also. Figure out the labor to make one look like this, add the fact that this one has Canadian Docs and a real build sheet as well as original drive train and you can see that this car is a real value.

Am I mistaken, or does the SS427 differ from just an impala with a 427? I thought I remembered that the SS427 was a package and a impala could be ordered with a 427 without the ss??????? http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

If that is correct, are any of these cars SS427's or, just impala's w/ 427's?

The Impala could be ordered with a 427 and no RPOZ24 SS427 package. The difference between them is the fact that the SS427s had an SS427 specific suffix stamped on the engine pad. I think it was LI for automatic and LH for stick.

Thanks. Did the SS427's get special emblems? I thought the ss427's got the 390hp and the just 427 cars got a 330hp????

The SS427's got different emblems and the 390 HP. The L72 was optional.
An Impala with a 427 could have one of three engines, the two mentioned above, and the low hp one.
