Adam's all the way-I like it so much I give a full detail kit away with every car I sell. I too have tried them all and I also used to own a high end detail shop. Nothing is as easy or safe for your paint as Adams.
Remember, Meguiars may have the market cornered but they also engineer their products to a (low) price point for market share. Think Wal Mart, Autozone, etc- it's all about PROFIT MARGINS with the commonly available detailing products. Another little tip-if you insist on using Meguiars, ONLY buy the stuff in the tan bottles. That is their "professional" line, all the "NXT" and similar stuff in bright shiny bottles is for K Mart and the like. If in doubt, go to an auto body paint store rather than your local mega center.
That, or, www.adamspolishes.com (http://www.adamspolishes.com) - they will ship to your door. Not cheap, but neither are our cars. Call and talk to Adam or Heather and tell them I sent you, they'll give you 10% off. Make sure to get his detail spray, butter wax, and brilliance...and some of their awesome microfiber polishing and drying towels. If you don't like the stuff they'll give you your money back plus 10 points. Trust me, worth the call. Just ask Sixtiesmuscle, Bruce, Richard, etc- I've got them all hooked on the good stuff http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Yep your are right about Meguiars in the tan Bottles
When I was at the Atlantic city show this past Feb I talked to the guys at Meguiars and they were the ones that told me the same thing and got me to try Final Inspection
You use it as a Detailer The more I use it the more my jeep with the Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl Coat shines
They told me that the stuff at pep boys is just not as good
and the professional grade is hands down a much better product You just can not get it at the parts store it has to be order at Meguiars
I do not under stand why snice it is a great productwhy not sell it at a parts store

Out here in the wild west you can buy the brown bottle Profesional line of Meguiars in the local auto parts stores. I buy 1 gal. at a time of Final Inspection and Vinyl and Rubber cleaner. My wife loves their leather care line for her '02 SS interior as well.

Telling a man what wax to use on his car is like telling him which steak sauce to put on his steak.....some of us are pretty hardheaded.
Try the Pinnacle cleansing lotion and then the Souveran past wax especially if you have a dark colored car. Also not cheap but ......

All of these products sound good, and everyone is sure to defend their choices. It's just human nature.
I bought a new car in 1970. The first coat of wax it received was the old two-step Meguiar's Competition that came in black plastic tubs. The cleaner was pink and the sealer was light green. I was happy with the results and have stuck with Meguiar's since that day. This car's paint has NEVER had anything but Meguiar's on it. I might try some of the other stuff discussed here, but it will be on one of the other vehicles. Just a loyalty thing I guess. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
BTW, I do agree; the Professional Grade (tan bottle) products are the way to go. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

Was that the crap that came in the aerosol can? Kinda foamy? My Dad bought a load of that stuff and made me 'polish' his '63 Buick. NASTY stuff. Almost like polishing your car with oil. The only good part of that stuff was that it took of 'road oil' pretty well.
My worst recollection of polishing/waxing was my annual 'right of passage'. I had to wax our boat every spring, just before skiing season began. Laying on my back on the broken concrete floor of our old garage waxing the hull of an 18' fiberglass boat AIN'T MY IDEA OF FUN!
Oh well..............I survived. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

Dito to all that, I buy Final Inspection by the gallon, I get it at my local paint store. I only use #34 on my black car in between polish. Great for quick clean up outside, and not to be confused with Quick Detailer which is a retail spray wax.

Duragloss makes an excellent car wash soap that leaves a very nice shine on the paint after washing. I use it on my truck and wife's car, daily drivers....

Try D-155 "Last Touch" by Meguiar's. It has more "active shine enhancers" or some magical stuff that makes it work even better than Final Inspection. Very similar...just slightly more pricey, but worth it.

Ok I read the posts and changed my wax.I had a hell of a time finding the Light colored bottle Meguiars but finally found some liquid. It goes on very nice and comes off like a dream compared to what I have been using.Real nice shine however it seems to have left behind smudges when I look down the side with the light just right and when I touch the paint it feels greasy and leaves marks. Now I could not find the special cloth you guys use to remove it so I just used my normal new white cotton terry towels. It was also only 48 degress outside when I used it so am wondering if the cold temp had a impact because it seemed like it took a very long time to dry.Let me know what you think. Thanks Joe

It all comes down to how clean you get your car in the first place.

I buy a concentrated liquid carnuba wax, mix it with water at about 10 to 1 in a spray bottle, and it works great on my black car. Saves me a lot of $$, since an once of wax can do the whole car. Wax is like any other liquid in that even when diluted, it still leaves a layer of wax on the surface of the car. It's the wax that shines the car, not the thickness of the layer, like when the wax is applied undiluted. This is why Meguiars came out with the spray detailer. The water acts like a wash, and the wax adds the shine.
I went 3 years between a complete wash, since all I ever needed to do was to remove surface dust. If I got caught in the rain, I would just spray the car with water, and then apply the spray wax. JMO, but I think that cars can be overwaxed, which to me is an un-necessary expense.
Of course, since I drive my car, I am not going for a show car finish. Shiny looks just the same when going down the road. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif
Damn, that hose nosel looks great!! Wonder where they got it? And that's not a water hose is it? And a CA duster? Confusing picture to me.

I don't think you're supposed to "wax" flat black with anything, or it won't be flat very long. I used to use some sort of aerosol spray Stoner's makes on the matte black headlight coves on my '97 SS Camaro...spay it on and buff it with a microfiber cloth to give the black more "pop" without making it shiny. As far as a "wax" goes, the Supercar Workshop guys turned me onto Formula 113 years ago... I've tried (and still own) nearly every Meguiar's wax, tan bottles black bottles and blue bottles, but none make black shine like 113. Take a look at any of the cars Brian and Joe do, none of 'em ever get anything but Formula 113 wax and "Bead-X" detailer, and I don't think you can find a car with a better gloss or more depth than ANY of those. Not to mention, its a breeze to use....even on cars that haven't been waxed in years. Try it!
