Can't need one that bad if you cannot answer a question.I don't know Pontiacs but the 64/65 looks pretty close to my untrained eye.

Hi Bruce:
That one is not mine but I have a friend who has what I think is a 64/65.Just trying to help out of I can. I don't know what is different in a 61. It is not obvious to me.
Take care Joe

The snouts are at different angles !!! Take the lid off and face as it would sit on the engine.

Hi Jim:
If that is the only difference that is a easy modification to perform. We do it all the time on the 68 impala 427 air cleaners which have a slighly different angle between auto and standard. Any good body man should be able to assist since it seems the 64/65 are available. Thanks for getting back to me.Kind Regards Joe

Here is a 68 impala 427 one that a good friend has modified to change the angle 12 degrees as required.Once finished off and repainted it will be as original as one never touched.Just a option for you if the snorkel angle is the only difference.

Its the clocking of the snouts that are different, thats not and easy change. Yes I have changed many an angle of degree for Cowl and other air claners. Nice 427 4 spd air cleaner I still have the original on mine.

Hi Jim:
Yes the clocking would be a different story. I will ask my friend who is into these Pontiacs if he can assist with a 61. I just knew he had a 64/65 for sale.If you have your original on your 68 it is rare for sure especially if the car is a 4spd. Our two 68 427 auto's have original air cleaners but not the stick. It is a hens teeth air cleaner to find as you know but I guess if one does the numbers roughly just over 5000 big chevs with 427 4spd. Take out the 560 or so l-72, then how many were tossed in the first year since they are a big ugly thing.I have not seen a original 4spd one for sale in over 5 years.Take care Joe

The Car is for sale 68 SS427 4spd #'s match not too rusty , its listed in the cars for sale . The only thing missing are the exhaust manifolds. I had it at Spring carlise and they did a TV interview for Cars at Carlise as to the Rareity of this car!! $14,000 buys it before we start on it .
